We must curb our energy use (oil) to allow disadvantaged nations access to the energy we did not consume: Marxist redistribution of the world’s resources. Maybe countries need to develop their own oil resources. That would bring in jobs and wealth.

Chu, I’ve a great idea for you...let’s produce more energy from domestic supplies, therefore freeing world supplies for other countries.

any energy policy that isn't based on plentiful, inexpensive energy is absurd. This nork isn't qualified to be in charge of anything, yet alone energy policy.

...why exactly do we need to curb our energy usage?

The core premise in liberal thinking is there are too many humans populating the Earth. They want us to die so they can have the lifestyles to which they are accustomed and not have to feel guilty.

We, the mere proles, take up too many resources in our lesser lives and have no right to exist in their thinking.

Did not know that energy was a zero sum game...

You know as well as I that Democrats turn EVERYTHING into a zero sum game.

If they did not, they would never get elected or get placed in positions of power.

Steven Chu, the Nobel prize-winning physicist appointed by President Obama as Energy Secretary, wants to paint the world white. A global initiative to change the colour of roofs, roads and pavements so that they reflect more sunlight and heat could play a big part in containing global warming, he said yesterday.

Isn't wishing our lifestyle on another country just a little arrogant? Isn't it just a bit genocidal to advocate that entire cultures be erased in the interest of "being like America once was"?

If these foreign countries aren't careful they're going to end up with their very on Barney Frank(!)

Heh... Well, I was trying to talk reality (not Democrat politics), but of course you’re right. The Democrats tend to distort all things (damn the facts)....

"We believe we have to decrease our use of energy to allow headroom for the developing nations to grow their economies,"

I don't need US government employees to go abroad and make the case AGAINST the American citizen's own lifestyle.

We do NOT hurt the "growth" of third world dictatorships because we have indoor plumbing and central air conditioning.

Overthrow the socialist dictatorships that oppress third world peoples.

This is exactly what I thought when I read that headline. considering the decline in businesses and manufacturing industry, there must be a considerable decline in energy use!

White rooftops would do more to reflect heat than black rooftops.

Who is this idiot, what a MORON!!

The USA already has substantially reduced its energy use --- we moved ALL our manufacturing plants to foreign countries, what a TOTAL LOSER this Chu fella is, what an idiot!!!!

Does this fool believe that if in American homes we all vow to use one less lamp --- that this would equal the impact of REMOVING OUR FACTORIES to the Third World???????

How can such a STUPID person go so far in his careeer????????

“Maybe recession isn’t good enough for this tool, maybe he wants depression.”

Maybe he’s aiming even lower, toward famine and depopulation.

Maybe he’s aiming even lower, toward famine and depopulation.

Well that would fit with some of Obama's other advisors like Holdren and Sunstein and Van Jones.

I’d like to see the explanation that shows exactly how our using less energy allows other countries to grow. That is one of the dumbest statements I have ever seen a politician make, not the dumbest but in the top 10 at least.
