They didn’t say he was a communist. They detailed the effort he made (that was a continuation of Truman’s effort) to keep the Soviets up to par technologically, and how he bungled foreign policy in favor of the Soviets constantly.

The opening of the archives showed the links between the Kremlin and the Eisenhower State Department.

I don't recall any such effort on the part of either Truman or Eisenhower.

Doing a little research according to Bill Buckley, Russell Kirk, and a some other top conservatives, Welch indeed did call Ike a “dedicated agent of the communist conspiracy.” He simply didn’t put those words in a late edition of his book “The Politician.” Welch also called Ike’s brother Milt a commie. All top conservatives considered Welch a nut. Which is what he was.
