What would you have done? Politely ignored something you felt strongly about? What if they had invited a group that you thought was an anathema to conservatives? Would you just have kept your mouth shut? He had the guts to take a stand. He was blunt but not vulgar. And you call him a jerk for standing up for his beliefs. And you do so from the safety of anonymity. You sound like you want to hoist a white flag instead of a black one.

Christopher R. Barron, Chairman of the Board

Christopher Barron Christopher R. Barron is the Chairman of the Board of GOProud. Chris is also the President of CapSouth Consulting, LLC, a full service political consulting firm.

Chris has penned opinion pieces for a variety of leading political figures and members of Congress. These opinion pieces have appeared in The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, Roll Call, The Hill, Politico, and other media outlets.

Bruce M. Carroll Jr, Member of the Board

Bruce Carroll has been involved in Republican politics since he was 14 years old, growing in Chester County, Pennsylvania. He credits his Mom for becoming involved in politics and government as she worked for US Congressman Robert S. Walker (ret.) for 20 years.

In addition to active involvement in Pennsylvania Republican grassroots campaigns, Bruce was elected as the youngest borough councilman in the State of Pennsylvania at the age of 21 in 1992. Bruce also served as a board member for the Philadelphia chapter of the Log Cabin Republicans in the late 1990s.

In September 2004, Bruce launched the very successful gay conservative political blog - GayPatriot.org. GayPatriot was an original member of the PajamasMedia blogger network. Bruce's work experience includes 15 years in healthcare policy and government relations in the biotechnology industry. Saxby was named after US Senator Saxby Chambliss after his surprising electoral win in 2002.

Jimmy LaSalvia, Executive Director and Member of the Board

A longtime Republican activist, Jimmy LaSalvia has held volunteer and professional staff positions in Republican campaigns and party organizations in South Dakota and Kentucky, including serving on the campaign staff of former South Dakota Governor Walter D. Miller. He has also previously worked as a development officer for Kentucky Opera and as a real estate broker in Louisville, Kentucky.

In 2006 he joined the national staff of Log Cabin Republicans, first as Grassroots Outreach Director then as Director of Programs & Policy. He helped to build the organization across the country and lobbied to pass pro-gay legislation in state capitols and in Washington.

Jimmy was born in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and grew up in a well-traveled military family. He is a graduate of Black Hills State University in Spearfish, South Dakota.

He was rude and combative.

He starts calling members of the crowd 'enemies'.

He was a real first class jerk.

He might be a nice guy elsewhere....but I doubt it.

You can stand with that statement if you want, but don’t associate Reagan with it. GOProud may stand for what CPAC calls “OUR(emphasis added) traditional conservative agenda.” It does not stand for what a genuine traditional conservative agenda is, which involves social as well as economic conservatism.

Legislative Priorities

GOProud's Conservative Agenda

The so-called "gay agenda" is defined by the left through a narrow prism of legislative goals. While hate crimes and employment protections may be worthy goals, there are many other important priorities that receive little attention from the gay community. GOProud's agenda emphasizes conservative and libertarian principles that will improve the daily lives of all Americans, but especially gay and lesbian Americans.

1 - TAX REFORM - Death tax repeal; domestic partner tax equity, and other changes to the tax code that will provide equity for gays and lesbians; cut in the capital gains and corporate tax rates to jump start our economy and create jobs; a fairer, flatter and substantially simpler tax code.

2 - HEALTHCARE REFORM - Free market healthcare reform. Legislation that will allow for the purchase of insurance across state lines - expanding access to domestic partner benefits; emphasizing individual ownership of healthcare insurance - such a shift would prevent discriminatory practices by an employer or the government.

3 - SOCIAL SECURITY REFORM - Bringing basic fairness to the Social Security system through the creation of inheritable personal savings accounts.

4 - DON'T ASK, DON'T TELL REPEAL - Repeal of the military's Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy.

5 - HOLDING THE LINE ON SPENDING - Standing up for all tax payers against wasteful and unneccessary spending to protect future generations from the mounting federal debt.

6 - FIGHTING GLOBAL EXTREMISTS - Standing strong against radical regimes who seek to criminalize gays and lesbians.

7 - DEFENDING OUR CONSTITUTION - Opposing any anti-gay federal marriage amendment.

8 - ENCOURAGING COMMUNITY ENTREPRENEURSHIP - Package of free market reforms to encourage and support small businesses and entrepreneurship in the gay community.

9 - REVITALIZING OUR COMMUNITIES - A package of urban related reforms; expanding historic tax preservation credits; support for school choice.

10 - DEFENDING OUR COMMUNITY - Protecting 2nd amendment rights.
