People identify with him because they understand somebody being driven insane by government harassment - as the state grows larger and more invasive, people will do more extreme things.

That said, this man is nobody’s hero. He endangered the lives of many innocents, stole personal property, and in general sounds totally self centered and crazy. He is not one of us.

And frankly, after reading his manifesto I know he was not a tea partier. He just says too much that smacks of MSNBC propaganda.

He made a lot of really dumb decisions that led up to this, so anybody who identifies with him is cherrypicking. Rather than buckle down, sell one of his airplanes, and work to ensure that his wife and young daughter had a roof over their heads, he cried like a baby on the internet and then tried to take the coward's way out. He thought he would take out a bunch of people, but he bungled that as badly as he bungled his businesses, with the majority of his aircraft hitting a vacant floor. He was incompetent to the end.

He is definitely not one of us.

He murdered a retired US Army veteran who had served two tours of duty in Vietnam and who was a good Christian.

He left his current wife and his young daughter homeless and probably penniless.

His daughter from his first marriage claims he's a hero, yet you have to wonder about her since he left her young half-sister's life in ruins. Maybe in his older daughter's life, that makes him a hero for some reason - maybe she hated her stepmom and half-sister.
