That can't be pretty or quick ... doesn't seem to me to be a way to go ... especially for someone with a background in chemistry and biology

Depends on if it was laced with potassium cyanide like back in ‘82. There have been other recalls of it the last two years. Seems awfully convenient for the FBI.
