IIRC, there is a small Army air field there from the good old days. Is it used for GenAv?

I wonder if this could've been a traffic airplane (not everyone uses helicopters for that).

There is a small general aviation airport very very close to this, “Birds Nest Airport”. A lot of small craft like this fly in and out of there and they do a lot of training there. Considering where downtown is, coming from the west this probably would be a direct approach path to Birds Nest.

If you’re talking about Penn Field in South Austin, it was converted to commercial space long ago.
