That sounds about right in terms of fuel tank. It just seemed the spread of the fire horizontally was quite extensive for a small plane. Also, one witness I heard said it was quite an explosion. Now hearing the man set fire to his house before taking off in his plane. Unconfirmed, but if true it is terrorism either Jihadi or domestic.
Well, if the emerging reports are right and this guy burned his house down and did this on purpose, it wouldn’t surprise me a bit if he had something besides full fuel tanks onboard. Maybe gas cans or some sort of IED.
The fire does seem hugely out of proportion to the plane, though, I’ll definitely grant that. When Cory Lidle’s Cirrus SR-20 hit an apartment building in Manhattan, the resulting fire was nothing like this. When that kid flew a Cessna into a skyscraper in Tampa not long after 9/11, I don’t think that even caught fire at all.
