I think it would be o.k. to leave out the word moderate.
Bayh’s campaign was going to be a referendum on Barack Obama. That is what NO ONE in the press seems to want to admit. Bayh’s state of Indiana is not liberal, even though they voted for Obama, most Hoosiers now regret their votes. Bayh was going to run as an Obama acolyte, and he saw the handwriting in the wall.
The moderate Democrat died over 25 years ago with the passing of ‘Scoop’ Jackson.
