I am not interested in watching Bill Maher, rather he's being brilliant or a jerk, so my comment was based on the quote from him. So I wasn't attempting to take his words out of context, I was taking his sentence to mean what he said. Now if you say he had context that changed the meaning of the quote I'll take your word for it.

It totally changed the meaning of it. For yourself and others that didn't watch the video, here is the transcript. Notice how the money quote changes totally when taken in context.

"The love of our troops, the ultimate in fake patriotism. Are you kidding? The troops: we pay them like $hit, we *uck them and trick them on deployments. We nickle and dime them on medical care when they get home. Not to mention the stupid wars that we send them to. Yeah, we love the troop the way Michael Vick loves dogs. You know what?
