Is It Possible for a Practicing Muslim Soldier to Swear Allegiance to the U.S. Constitution?

The Islamic jihadi murders of their military brothers in arms by U.S. Army Major Nidal Malik Hasan at Fort Hood and U.S. Army Sergeant Hasan Akbar in Kuwait raise an uncomfortable question: Is it possible for a practicing Muslim soldier to swear allegiance to the U.S. Constitution? The common circumstance prior to each of these jihadi murders is that both Hasan and Akbar were noted to have expressed "radical emotion" -- that is, angry opposition -- regarding the U.S. invasion of dar al-Islam (land under Muslim control), specifically Iraq and Afghanistan.

Well it was a “bfd” to him and those who loved him and served with him. It appears you haven't given “the last full measure of devotion” as this patriot has. You should be eternally grateful for every drop of precious American blood that has ever been shed in your name. It doesn't sound like you can even comprehend the meaning of this soldier's sacrifice, and by extension, the sacrifice of the others who go in harm's way. Go to Hell.

Stormer. Thank you for the reminder that there are many patriotic and heroic muslims who have faithfully served this nation. Those who ignorantly smear muslims out of knee-jerk prejudice seem to forget that we are currently fighting to save our muslim allies from our muslim enemies.

American Muslims serve in our military, work in the defense industry, pay taxes to support our efforts and are completely reliable and in love with this nation- where their religious practices are protected under law. Those who want to turn our war into a war with islam are working against our efforts.
