The temperature records cannot be relied on as indicators of global change, said John Christy, professor of atmospheric science at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, a former lead author on the IPCC.
The popular data sets show a lot of warming but the apparent temperature rise was actually caused by local factors affecting the weather stations, such as land development.
The IPCC faces similar criticisms from Ross McKitrick, professor of economics at the University of Guelph, Canada, who was invited by the panel to review its last report.
The experience turned him into a strong critic and he has since published a research paper questioning its methods.

a weather station at Manchester airport was built when the surrounding land was mainly fields but is now surrounded by heat-generating buildings.
Terry Mills, professor of applied statistics and econometrics at Loughborough University, looked at the same data as the IPCC. He found that the warming trend it reported over the past 30 years or so was just as likely to be due to random fluctuations as to the impacts of greenhouse gases.

That's an astonishing quote! If that were true, Holland, Bangladesh, and the southeast coastal areas of the U.S. would all be covered with ocean. The things I just looked up talked about rises in the 1-3mm a year range. I wonder if Trenberth said 5mm since 1972 and the idiot reporter doesn't know what a mm is? Or maybe the Times just decided to make up a scary number for the quote. I just can't believe Trenberth would be so irresponsible to say something that patently false.
I already know that Algore is dumb and deaf and blind.
I know just what their theory is and the truth is plain to see,
they're knocking down a billion bucks for grants and caps and fees.
So I turned the key and lit the spark on my V-8 Chev big block,
revved up 400 horses and pulled the wheel chock,
and luckily for me I topped off my tanks just yesterday,
so I punched the pedal to the floor and laughing sped away.
These liars need to be arrested!!!!!!!
>> M: as if they have a great vested interest
>> a: They do have a vested interest, it is called government research grant.
Oh, it’s much bigger than grants, and self enrichment - it’s about Global Socialism. Are the radical climate ‘scientists’ really mercenaries for another agenda?
Paul Martin recently appeared BBC World News covering the economies of Canada and the U.K. Throughout the interview, digressing from the main topic, Martin interjected information about his humanitarian efforts in South Africa - off topic, but nonetheless an honorable cause. He seemed to use the diversion as way to avoid criticizing current policies. Regardless, his characterization about solutions for the poorer countries was telling as it involved “Climate Change”.
According to Martin, addressing “Climate Change” is an imperative to the stability and growth of economically challenged nations. The obscure relationship went unchallenged during the interview. But perhaps it’s not that obscure to those that consider Climate an attribute of the imperative “Climate Change”, and not so much the object of the former view “Global Warming”.
Climate Change is effectively Hype Money.
and where is our ‘watch-dog’ lamestream media on this latest.....oh, nvr mind....
Using the width and height attributes of the img tag just makes the browser work harder by making it do the reduction. Result, more wasted bandwidth.

They should have held the Olympics in Birmingham, AL.

My pleasure. I think you’ll like it.
Yes, it does sound quite strange. For one thing, the maps will change, wherever you have a coastal flatland. Holland, protected by dambs, might take an inch or two, but surely not Bangladesh, or Louisiana, or St. Petersburg.
Here you have my last “/s” for the weekend. I will go to the storehouse and get some more tomorrow.
While I am there I will by some bandwidth offset credits. /s LOL
Really? /s
Hey! While you're there, get some for me. On a 56K dialup line, I need all the help I can get :-)
LOL LOL LOL
I know how you feel. When I am on my cell phone I get irritated by pics, real quick. First thing I think is “Why the Heck is someone junking up a page with pics. I can’t see this crap and will take a fortnight to download it.
Then again, when I am on my laptop, I say “Fire away!”.
Of course if you are in the boonies there aren’t many choices for B-width.
I am sure that our World, the Northern Hemisphere, soon, in a month or so, will be warming. However, our dear friends in Australia will probably not agree.
Glad he’s willing to speak up to the alamists... they’re nuts.
Thanks AdmSmith and neverdem.
