I think it's been taken a bit way overboard. Although God gave us humans dominance over all other species,we still do have respect for others.
Genesis 9:2 And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered.
3 Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.

Proverbs 12:10 A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

There are those on this thread that are stating what they would physically do to harm another human, and are the same ones that are speculating that someone who would kill an animal would kill a human.
there is a big disconnect here. lotta hate from animal lovers.
