(Newser) When Sarah Palin told Tea Party activists last week that President Obama was "a professor of law standing at the lectern," she wasn't just tapping into populist anti-intellectualismshe was also making a not-so-subtle attack on the president's race. So says Harvard professor and longtime Obama pal Charles Ogletree, who tells Inside Higher Ed that calling Obama "the professor" is close to labeling him 'uppity.'"
Other slurs against Obamaleft wing, socialist, palling around with terrorists"were buzzwords. But the reality was they were looking at this president as an African American who was out of place,

Well! Heere it is...Thanks DRC...worth repeating here:
....”Actually, Obama NEVER was a professor of law: he was a lecturer. Big difference. Lecturers are at the very bottom of the academic totem pole, while professors have to earn that distinction through a consistent track record of scholarship (i.e., publications) and teaching. That Obama remained a dozen years a lecturer rather than placed on a more prestigious but intellectually more rigorous professor track tells us something.”....

0bammy was never a professor though he has mis-represented himself as such. Savor the BS ——>>>
.
.
Today, the University of Chicago released the following statement:
The Law School has received many media requests about Barack Obama, especially about his status as “Senior Lecturer.” From 1992 until his election to the U.S. Senate in 2004, Barack Obama served as a professor in the Law School. He was a Lecturer from 1992 to 1996. He was a Senior Lecturer from 1996 to 2004, during which time he taught three courses per year. Senior Lecturers are considered to be members of the Law School faculty and are regarded as professors, although not full-time or tenure-track. The title of Senior Lecturer is distinct from the title of Lecturer, which signifies adjunct status. Like Obama, each of the Law School’s Senior Lecturers have high-demand careers in politics or public service, which prevent full-time teaching. Several times during his 12 years as a professor in the Law School, Obama was invited to join the faculty in a full-time tenure-track position, but he declined.

Obama is uppity, and so is Pelosi, and BOTH of them will get their comeuppance.

"she was also making a not-so-subtle attack on the president's race..."
I was wondering how long it would be before they played the infamous race card against her...and there is a good reason why they did....NOTHING ELSE HAS WORKED. lol
Playing the race card is the last, desparate act of a dying man.
What Sarah said was:
"That scares me for my children and for your children. Treating this like a mere law enforcement matter places our country at grave risk. Because thats not how radical Islamic extremists are looking at this. They know were at war. And to win that war, we need a Commander-in-Chief, not a professor of law standing at the lectern."
Which is ABSOLUTELY TRUE and which most of us agree 100%.
But as Rush pointed out, obama was never actually a "professor"...just a "guest lecturer" (mostly on the principles of Alinsky).
So Professor Ogletree is as full of stuffing as a Christmas turkey in his assumptions and accusations.
You know, we "anti-intellectuals" wonder why such an elitist Professor can't come up with a more intellectual argument than the simplistic race card...I mean, that's the one the ghetto gangsta's use, you know, those 7th grade graduates you see on TV every...single...day.
But, I put forth my standard challenge...America has thousands upon thousands of anti-discrimination and hate-crimes laws on the books...so if any of us "anti-intellectuals" are racists, why not take us to court? Let's put the burden of proof on your ass and see how that turns out. I seriously doubt that calling someone - who is a self-proclaimed "professor" - will be found to be a racial epithet.
So, Professor Ogletree, nice try but it won't float...and it doesn't matter...very few of your "friends" would vote for her anyway.

Chucky Ogletree is simply projecting his own attitudes regarding black people who get higher education.
Obama will probably throw him under the bus before long.

It’s not racist code.
It’s code for “detached from reality”. And she’s right.

Someone's been skimming their old college sociology texts . According to John Dollard's
Caste and Class in a Southern town, white editors and newspaper reporters would use "Professor" and "Reverend" as honorifics for "special" blacks more important than the run of the mill sort. This way addressing them as Mister would be avoided, while still according them more respect than simply referring to them as "Jim Smith" or Jane Doe", as would be the case for pretty much all other black people mentioned in print. But that classic text was published in 1937! To pretend any white person referring to a black person as "professor" is doing so to be condescending is absurd, particularly when the black person in question was in fact a college professor. (Never mind that 1937 was a loooong time ago , and it is now 2010.)

Unlike progressives and liberals, most conservatives do not need to “spin” the meaning of words, ie: code for.
We generally mean what we say. Code words..........that a dem thing. I assure you, whoever this author is, if she meant uppity, she would have said uppity!

It is spin, spin, spin. These folks make spin the whole reason for their existence. They spin for a living, the spin as hobbies, they spin for political position. It is ALL they do. They can’t, after all, say what they really thing, nor can they, as they see it, allow the conservative common sense message be heard without trying to spin it, or project their own views in order to try and devalue it.

Ogletree says Americans are frightened of intellectuals who are Black? I guess that’s why Thomas Sowell receives so much exposure in Big Media. (smirk) Ogletree is a race-baiter from way back. In his very disordered mind, there is no legitimate criticism of a Black leftist.

Maybe this comment was aimed at senior blacks who might be interested in the Tea Party movement and in Palin. Only older blacks might make this interpretation. To put this out there could indicate that they are really worried that she might be appealing to some in their base.
