The word is that the House held some votes in reserve when Obamacare was passed. Some vulnerable Rats were allowed to vote no. That is not unusual for controversial legislation.

And they are less vulnerable now? I would think they are in more jeopardy now. And what does it gain them to pass it at this point with the country solidly against them. I believe at this point passage will just make it worse in November for them.

Axelrod believes that politically they are better off going this route and facing the wrath of voters in November than having tried to get Obamacare, not passed it, and facing the wrath of the voters in November.

That Axelrod is a genius isn't he. How many times have I heard this trickery put forth. Yeah, they may actually get a vote, but the wrath of the voters will be unbelievable if they do that and if the GOP has any balls, this will be used as a reason to keep the RATS out of office for a long time in the future.

Pelosi is delusional if she thinks all of those Dems are going to fall on their swords for her.

I agree, there’s no way they’ll get the votes for this.

You're right; my math was off there.

Still, I don't believe Miz Botoxicated has the votes. If she had 'em, she'd have done it already.

She HATES Stupak & accepted it only because she couldn't pass the thing any other way.

Some of those "allowed" to vote no? They're ALL up for re-election. Can she really get them to change back now, & abandon the "protective coloration" they've already achieved? "Sorry, home folks, I was just joking when I voted 'no' on Obamacare. I really like it better now."

I'm not saying that The Bill From Hell is silver-stake-in-the-heart dead. Pelosi obviously has some investment in the immortality of zombies. We have to be vigilant and active, we have to tell the Repubs to boycott Feb 25, we have to press loud and hard on the prolife Stupak Dems and Blue Dogs.

But I also think Pelosi's insouciant "Oh, we'll pass it alrighty" is bluffing.

"The trick in all of this is that the president would have to sign the Senate bill first, then the reconciliation bill second, and the reconciliation bill would trump the Senate bill..."
Just remember, if they pull this one off, none of the bastards gets buried at Arlington. Thanks Mrs. Don-o.

No doubt the nobama summit is a trick to make the Pubbies look like dolts and nobama look like his former self (messiah). Let’s hope the suckers don’t take the bait and can turn the table on nobama.

We need to stop beleiving anything the dems say, whether its “come on down, we’ll summit and listen to what you have to say” to “we’re gonna pull a fast tricky move on those Pubbie dolts and pass nobamacare”.
Its ALL spin.

The ‘summit’ and subsequent media blitz to paint Pubbies as ‘obstructionists’ is axelgreasy astroturfing on a large scale. The demons can pass it without a single Pubby vote, but in typical democrat criminal enterprise fashion they’re going to amnipulate the dumbed down populace, to make it appear the demonrats are saviors in hopes of saving their criminal, Republic murdering hides in November.

Reconciliation bills have expiration dates and the GOP could raise countless points of order.

Wow, beat me by two minutes! ... And to best the criminals at their own game, the Pubbies ought to call a presser and present the several suggestions they’ve been trying to get Nazi Pelicanosi et al to take a look at during their closed door schemeing which has excluded Pubbies to date! Pre-empt the lying whizkings.

Speaking of rules, under what rules will this meeting be held? It's often said that "he who sets the agenda, wins the game." Who will craft this half-day agenda? What are the objectives? What will the procedure be if they reach an impasse?

Let's hope the GOP is more politically astute than we give them credit for having. Obama is going way out-of-bounds on this, circumventing the normal legislative process.

I think some of the Democrats were allowed to vote no on the original bill for political cover

Well what's changed since then? Town Hall Meetings over the summer; NJ, VA and MA going our way and the Tea Party movement gaining strength in numbers. What makes you think they will now side with a losing majority?

But I also think Pelosi's insouciant "Oh, we'll pass it alrighty" is bluffing.

You may well be right.

Still, if she wants to pass it -- regardless of cost to her party -- she might be able to do it. After all, she's still got 255 members in her caucus. More than enough.

She's already said she's prepared to lose seats. And that the seats which might be lost would help "cleanse the caucus".

I really don't believe her ego allows her to believe that the election could result in her party becoming the minority. That's not conceivable to her. But, if they do become a minority, she ceases being Speaker. And, for having driven the party into the ditch, she probably loses her role as the party's leader (if the 'Rats have any sense).

She's a megalomaniac. And she's ruthless. As such, she is extremely dangerous. She's running a coup. She can't afford to lose -- and if she wants the votes in the House, she'll get them. The poor saps who take the fall for her will be well rewarded with lucrative jobs -- in ambassadorships and lobbyist offices.

We're dealing with an irrational, power-mad person here. Like Ahmadinejad, they don't think like you and I do.

How in the hell did America end up in this predicament...?

You hit the nail on the head. After the Scott Brown victory, I doubted strongly that the dems had a majority in the house anymore. With the sudden passing of Murtha, they really don’t now.
