Clinton recession: You're not telling me anything I don't already know. That doesn't excuse huge budget increases during his term. And as for Dem control? Bush had in his hand a rare opportunity other Republican Presidents would cream their pants over. What do Dems do when they get these opportunities? We're seeing it now. What did Bush do? I think you’re missing the part about the Dems controlling the Senate for the first two years, and GWB never having a conservative majority in the Senate, ever.

By the way, the Dems had a supermajority and couldn’t get health care through. (Miraculously!)

You're putting words in my mouth. I'm not missing anything. It's right there on the chart. I didn't say he had a Senate majority in the first two years. I merely presented the chart which shows he had an unprecedented period where he could have accomplished a great deal and he did nothing to shrink the fed.

And I guess your "qualifying" majority in the Senate, ever by saying "conservative majority" as opposed to Republican majority - which he DID have from 2003-2007.
