RIP. That said, I can never forgive him for disparaging the Marines in Iraq. He definitely was an EX-Marine. Signed: a former-Marine.

I respect his service to our country as a marine. Although it is not PC, I think it should be stated, that he

dishonored the soldiers at Haditha, and to my knowledge, never apologized for the misinformation, and damage to those

brother marines.

It is my hope, that before he died, he did express regret, and apology to those men he falsely accused.

We all watched for months as, one by one, each marine was exonerated for any and all actions in Haditha, and at each

occasion, John Murtha was asked if he would apologize for incorrectly accusing them. On each occasion, he played

politician, never giving a straight answer, and in fact, specifically NOT apologizing.... See More

This affected not only their professional careers, but their private lives. I will not expect those self-same brothers

in arms to speak ill of John Murtha, even tho he defamed them as he did.

So, I will speak for the many who might have liked, and perhaps respected John Murtha, had he not levelled his sights on

guilt before trial, of each of his fellow marines.

Unfortunately, what he did IMO to many, many Americans, was to demonstrate, the worst in leadership, the worst in care

to brothers in arms, while in harms way.

His legacy, whatever it may have been, was forever marred in history, as an unapologetic egotist, not as a great

statesman, and lifelong public servant.

How sad.

This link chronicles each marine as he was exonerated, and Murtha’s refusal to apologize each time. Now all that is left is Wuterich, he sued Murtha, and murtha claimed congressional priveledge, and can not be sued. That too is covered in the link.

Let us hope that his replacement lives by the spirit, as well as the word of the constitution to represent his state.

Yes, he said some beyond ugly things and made outrageous claims. If there’s any redemption for Murtha it will be handled by a higher power than any of us on the internet who knows how to type.
