Wow! I knew he’d been hospitalized lately, but didn’t know it was life-threatening. Prayers for his family as they mourn, and let’s elect a Republican to replace him! I don’t know what the procedure is in Pennsylvania, but I’m sure someone on the thread will.

Anyway, gallbladder surgery at 77 isn't usually life threatening but we don't know Murtha's medical history. If he had any other health issues as well, the surgery may have been too much for his system.
Since I’m just now reading this thread (although I received word of Murtha’s death earlier), I may have missed the posting of the reason for Murtha’s post-op death. According to Fox News (and others) a doctor involved with the operation for his gall bladder surgery accidently sliced open Murtha’s intestine. Murtha died from an infection resulting from that mistake. Ooops.
