Arctic climate changing faster than expected (Bearing straits)

WINNIPEG, Manitoba (Reuters) – Climate change is transforming the Arctic environment faster than expected and accelerating the disappearance of sea ice, scientists said on Friday in giving their early findings from the biggest-ever study of Canada's changing north.

The research project involved more than 370 scientists from 27 countries who collectively spent 15 months, starting in June 2007, aboard a research vessel above the Arctic Circle. It marked the first time a ship has stayed mobile in Canada's high Arctic for an entire winter.

"(Climate change) is happening much faster than our most pessimistic models expected," said David Barber, a professor at the University of Manitoba and the study's lead investigator, at a news conference in Winnipeg.

Models predicted only a few years ago that the Arctic would be ice-free in summer by the year 2100, but the increasing pace of climate change now suggests it could happen between 2013 and 2030, Barber said.

Anyone who watches the “Deadliest Catch” can see for themselves that this is BS.

Scientists my a$$...

These nimrods are now spurting out some new, obtuse angle on gorebull warming every day or so trying to find the lost chord to rejuvenate their hoax...ain't gonna happen.

The "deniers" were porven right, so the chicken little global alarmist might as well take up basket weaving or pebble painting and shutup...it's wasted breath.

Hey, they may be right, the climate may be changing. Thing is, MAN HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT, nor can man STOP it.

Only the sun is that powerful. Because Water is so overwhelmingly huge a presence on earth, water vapor is the only Greenhouse gas that matters.

They also neglect to say that the Earth’s climate changes come a couple years behind changes in the output of the sun’s energy. The sun is VERY quiet right now and putting out LESS energy, its gonna get colder.

BINGO!

Did you hear about Captain Phil? He had a stroke, he is in Anchorage now and apparently getting better after 12 hours of Brain Surgery!

I was really sad to hear this. But I am so very grateful that it happened in St. Paul Harbor and NOT out at sea during Opie season!

They also neglect to mention that the climate began warming about 12-14 thousand years ago. Nothing sets this inter-glacial period apart from any of the previous ones.

I believe that what’s afoot is something more dire than a lack of sea ice: earthquakes in new places, and earth rumbles all over the place...record winter in the temperate zones—yes, it’s the earth starting to changeon its axis. And,none of it caused by puny man. It will, however, be a problem when we all start flying off into space.

Total bullcrap. The Boulder snow and ice center, no center of “denialism,” confirms 2008 winter ice more extensive than 2007 and 2009 more extensive still.

These scientist will go down in history as the biggest dumbasses in the history of the world. Scientist in the future will read their names off in their class rooms and they will be mocked and made of.

They can come down here to Southern maryland and carry this 24 inches of snow back to the pole with them.

I'm not sure there's anything new there. Some of the threads here have brought up floods and earthquakes and tsunamis, etc. that have occurred in my lifetime and that have either escaped my notice or my memory.

Should Earth flip on its axis, however...
