He's talking about healthcare. Evidently they had a big meeting today. Some are still rejecting the healthcare bill because of abortion.

Jobs for main street. Investing the money. He said 33 states are broke. 200 projects have been put on hold because of lack of funding for Michigan. This money will be used for water and sewer, law enforcement. Bill looks like we are going to get that money from the feds and pay it back. Government will create a climate that will help small business to create jobs. Big banks are holding onto credit and won't release money to small businesses they are going to basically bully the banks to release some of that money(not his words mine).

Seniors won't get COLA(sp?), so now seniors will get $250.00 from the government to help them. Seniors will get living adjustment in the budget.

31 counties have gotten farmers will get disaster help, because of the strange weather we had.

They are doing an investigation about Toyota. Toyota is telling the talk shows one thing and government something else. Toyota said they will fix the problem. The government wants documentation on what happened.

He's taking questions.

1. Rob in Convington, If healthcare plan passes, he's a state employee, wants to know if he can keep his own insurance. A. yes he can and it will be encouraged for him to keep what he already has.

2. Janice in ?, Why is 500 billion, being taken away from Seniors Medicare. a. They won't take healthcare money. Over 10 years, they will increase healthcare for seniors. They will cover up the donut hole. Donut hole is when you've used all your coverage for the year, but, are still paying for your healthcare insurance every month. If you use it up say in 6 months, your in a donut hole, your still paying but, can't get anymore help for that year.

3. Lee in Lanse, couldn't hear his questions. a. must be about jobs. Trying to get manufacturing jobs in the U.P. Co-sponsor bill, buy American. Legislation today. Taking 30 million from wallstreet to give that money to manufactures. Government can't create jobs but, can create a climate to help business.

Phone poll survey. 1 - jobs 2 - healthcare 3 - reign in government spending. I pressed 3

Some of the questions I'm missing sorry.

4. To much control of a few insurance company's. Your at the mercy of insurance company's. The government is trying to build competition among insurance company's.

first poll questions. 1- jobs 47% 2 - healthcare 18% 3 - reign in spending 35%

5. Sorry couldn't hear question. a. Seems to be about American jobs and buying American. Mines for iron ore is opening up a few more jobs in the U.P. He said it's hard to find made in America. Jobs should be kept here.

5. Munising - Bob - CEO's are killing our economy because of there wages. Using our tax dollars to pay for bail outs. a. Bob I agree, the bailouts wallstreet he didn't vote for. He didn't agree with it. A lot of that money that went to wallstreet has paid back but, it's because they raised fees on us. It's outrageous what these CEO's are making. If they make these large salaries they are going to tax there bonuses 100%. He voted for it. I think it's immoral what they are doing.

6. Bail out for credit cards. a. How much interest they charge. It's state to state how much they allow for interest. Michigan lifted limits a while back so if credit card company's can charge whatever percent they want.

7. Iron Mountain - Bush tax cuts that are about to expire, voting for keeping the tax cuts. a. Unless they are specifically targeted to the middle class Stupak is going to vote to let them expire. 3.5 million inheritance tax should stay. Capital gains tax he wants to let them expire.

Poll question. Did stimulus package help Michigan 1 - yes 2 - no I pressed 2. 20 yes 80% no

Talking about shutting down businesses and sending the jobs overseas. Stupak does not like trade agreements, he says we always get the short end of the stick. He never votes for them. And will not vote for them. Obama has a few he's proposing? Brazil and a couple of other countries. Stupak won't vote for them.

Pickford - Question about Asian Carp, in Great Lakes. A real problem. this carp could disrupt the eco system in the Great Lakes. Chicago river has these carp they are moving up stream and Michigan is trying to prevent them from coming here, they eat up all the plankton and could kill off a lot of the fish in the Great Lakes.

q. Heathcare bill way to big over reaching. Will hurt small business that have more than 25 employees. a. 2-4% tax on those small business. He saying to many people are very confused but, they are not going to start over. They are going to pass healthcare in parts and broken down into pieces. Force insurance company's to take people with pre-existing conditions. Stupak talking about tort reform being passed. Why does it work in Texas but, not in Michigan? Anti-trust exemption will be voted on next week.

Posen - DCAP? alternate energy crops program. 75% crop payment, select geographical areas. a. switch grass grown in Michigan. BioMass. Power plant in Rogers city, talking about BioMass and switch grass. Power plants in other states might use it. Michigan is a leader in biomass.

Hillman - Unemployed 9 weeks left on unemployment asking for employment extensions. He's been on unemployment for a year. a. President is going to extend that for another 6 months and wants to add an extra $25.00 a week. Economy is just not taking off we have to do something to help the folks.

Grayling - Connie - Why charge a fee if I don't want insurance? a. Costs money for healthcare, everyone has to pay one way or another. So everyone can have help, your just going to have to pay for the healthcare so it will be there when you need it.

Do you find that telephone townhall meetings helpful? 1 - yes 94% 2 - no 6%

Manipulating Petroleum prices. Consumption is lowest in 10 years. Fuel prices are not lower. Congress wants to know why the big swing in prices. Stupak wants to know why it's different from gas station to gas station in different cities in Michigan, higher in one area, lower in another. He doesn't like the greed. How are the transactions being made.

Sorry for the way this came out. I tried to type and listen and spell correctly...lol This is the best I could do.

Whether we want it or not. Can't get it pass so they do it through reconciliation. I wonder if the unions are going to pay. HA!

He's lying like my Senators and Congressman lied.

Yep, a lot of what he said I didn't like. Especially about the healthcare bill. I heard what Pelosi said the other day and it just really angered me. Sounds like congress is just going to manipulate until they get what THEY want. They are going to ram this down our throats one way or the other. They have exactly, 10 months to do it, then they are gone.

The only thing he said that made any sense for us as American's was he didn't like the trade bills because he said we always got the short end of the stick. So he never votes for them. I agree with that.
