Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says the nation will deliver a harsh blow to the "global arrogance" on this year's anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.
"The Islamic Revolution opened a window to liberty for the human race, which was trapped in the dead ends of materialism," Ahmadinejad said during a cabinet meeting on Sunday.
"If the Islamic Revolution had not occurred, liberalism and Marxism would have crushed all human dignity in their power-seeking and money-grubbing claws. Nothing would have remained of human and spiritual principles," he added.
Ahmadinejad said that in the three decades of its history, the Islamic Revolution had inspired some great developments in the world.
The Iranian president made the remarks as the 31st anniversary of the Islamic Revolution approaches.
Iranians are expected to pour into the streets on February 11 to celebrate the occasion in public rallies across the country, as they have done annually over the past three decades.

Yes..I believe Obama got a wake up call by others outside his administration. There’s such a great loss of confidence in Bo and this administration that I think the recent Tv views of Bush and Clinton together with Bo, and then other shots of them, was intended to try and get the publics attitude to shift a little because they new this faceoff was comming.

Feb 11th is the eve of the anniversary of the Khomeini Revolution (Feb 13th). With Iran about 11 hours ahead the revolution in the USA it would be the 12th and 11th would be the eve.
With Israel massing troops against Lebanon and Syria - either to prevent retaliation after an attack on Iran, or if war breaks out on their borders, the Ahmadi-Nejad arrogance is serious.
It could be a dirty nuke on Israel (regardless that it would also pollute Palestinians - or equally likely an EMP (electro magnetic pulse nuke bomb - no human damage) on a Western target.
Iran has had that technology for quite some time and has delivery capability from an offshore rust bucket cargo ship if need be.
Possibly using a refurbished foreign flag cargo ship captured by Somali pirates as a stalking horse to make the “delivery”.
Lots of conjecture but little hard fact. Certainly enough for Obama to acquiesce to strengthen US presence in the region - ostensibly to protect our Arab friends.
My suspicious mind jumps out of the box here and into a conspires mode where Obama is setting up a win/win situation for himself.
He has an agreement with pal Ahmadi-Nejad to create this crisis (remember never let a crisis go to waste), he jumps to protect his Arab supporters from Iran.
Things happen.... the Arabs and the West feel direct attack pain. Perhaps in New York or suicide bomber already in the USA in our Malls and thousands of our school children being kidnapped and probably killed- part of retaliation) or Saudi oil fields destroyed.
Now the clincher: Obama declares war on Iran, Congress passes an Act of War, as part of his outrage (at death and damage to the USA or Saudi or other Arab countries or in a change of heart, even to Israel.
With a rapidly angry American populace blaming him for his weakness and inability to Administer or govern the country, he will simply - as per the Act of War DECLARE MARTIAL LAW AND RULE BY DECREE. The ultimate LEGAL power grab and imposed obedience of every American BY LAW.
How easy is that?
Very out of the box but also a very real possibility by those brains which put this useless, inexperienced idiot into our White House. For no other purpose than to ruin America for them. He has served NO OTHER purpose this far.
