Yes, more important things came out of President Barack Obama's State of the Union address on Wednesday (Jan. 27) night than what his wife, First Lady Michelle Obama, was wearing. Still, Chris Matthews has the attention-grabbing, out-of-context statement "I forgot he was black" covered. And the American citizens are full of responses to his 70-minute speech that ranged from everything to the economy to health care, national security to getting rid of the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy. So, back to secondary things: What was Michelle wearing? A tasteful aubergine dress with three-quarter-length sleeves from designer Isaac Mizrahi.  But not from his Target collection.

Fortunately someone told her to ditch the upholstery print dresses and the cocktail outfits for the State of the Union address. The outfit is actually quite nice.

That being said, the Obamas are both weird media leeches. Somehow they think the presidency is a series of media events, parties and more media events. The notion of hard work and serious effort seems foreign to them.

Yep... it’s the two purples that bother me.. also she had a bustle when she turned around. I think for her thick waist the tucked-in top is not as attractive as a more coat-dress style would be.

One of her nicer outfits, but for the life of me, I can’t understand why she wears gathered and pleated skirts. That style accentuates the hips and looks best on someone with a thin pencil shape.
