For me, Obama was more like a . . . well . . .

Like a milkshake that was all milk and almost no ice cream. I mean, he didn’t make me want to throw things through the TV like, say, Clinton did, but at the end, I went away completely, totally unsatisfied.

Maybe it’s just that I’m a decade older now and wiser about what to expect about SOTU’s, but my main reaction to tonight’s speech is “meh.”

I don’t know why we bothered. Nothing changed.

Obama will get a bounce, because he was on TV, saying stuff, and people were applauding, but the bounce won’t last.

He hasn’t changed course. He hasn’t changed policies. The leopard does not change his spots. The man is a socialist. Period. He tries to use conservative words, but they always sound hollow. He asks for bipartisanship minutes after blaming everything on Bush. Yeah—that’ll work.

The Republicans will win both houses of Congress this November, unless they (and they are the Stupid Party, remember) figure out a way to screw it up totally.

I’m still at “What the hell was that????” as a general reaction to the speech.
