MSM Leaping to Conclusions (O'Keefe Arrest)
BigGovernment.com ^ | 1/27/2009 | Andrew Breitbart

Wait until the facts are in.

Mainstream Media, ACORN, Media Matters (all the supposed defenders of due process and journalistic ethics) are jumping to conclusions over the arrest today of James O’Keefe, with the clear intention to smear and, if possible, convict O’Keefe and his alleged co-conspirators in the court of public opinion in order to taint the “jury of their peers.”

anip

I’m sure they would like to believe O’Keefe is stupid enough to try to “wiretap” a sitting U.S. senator in broad daylight during office hours, while recording the entire sequence of events on his cell phone camera. And they’d like you to believe it, too.

But there is absolutely no allegation in the criminal complaint that “wiretapping” or “bugging” is any part of this case, just the charge that O’Keefe and the others entered Sen. Landrieu’s office in New Orleans “for the purpose of interfering with the office’s telephone system.”

Very interesting to see how this will turn out. I can’t believe O’Keefe would be so rash to interfere with telco svce, especially since so many accusations were thrown at him/her over the ACORN office(s) thing.

I beleive the whole thing was to out the MSM as biased and not reporting all the news. O’Keefe and his boys were doing nothing more than to get themselves arrested, Just like every dedicated avtivist would, so the media would go breathlessly reporting the “heart of the ACORN video scandal” was arrested.

I spoke to people today who knew nothing of the sting videos or much about ACORN as well. So what was the first reaction from those who are curious of the sting videos?

Ask someone who they know follows politics, or even better yet, logs onto YouTube and starts to view the number of videos and sets there in stunned amazement of what the MSM never reported to them.

If the MSM thought their credibility was bad, hang on Lucie, its just about to go very south.

Yes, they had to be looking for something to take this high level of risk to enter a federal building housing Landrieu Or the question would be, who would stand to be most embarrassed? if caught.

After his release from jail on Tuesday on a $10,000 bond, O’Keefe used his Twitter account to announce to the world that he was a “journalist” and that truth would prevail:

Seems everyone has distanced themselves from O'Keefe, even Giles said she was "shocked by the reports of this behavior. I am well aware that following the law is an integral part of being a good investigative journalist. I take that responsibility and accountability very seriously. I certainly hope these reports are untrue.”.

However, ACORN CEO Bertha Lewis [suing O'Keefe] can respond anyway she wants, and is; but O'Keefe DID expose ACORN's unethical behavior.

to be continued....

If you’ve seen these guys work on Youtube you know they are notorious for doing these things.

Here’s what probably happened IMHO: The idea is to go to Sen. Landrieu’s office in LA and bring two guys dressed like telephone repairmen and ask to speak to the Senator (they’ve done this in DC before and have one video with them and Olympia Stowe) to see if she is having phone problems because she’s not getting the message from her constituents about Obamacare.

They are running audio and video with a third man outside running the recording equipment.

They are doing another Youtube series if you ask me and the staff, being left wing facsist, probably used their connections to get the FBI involved.

If this is closer to what has happened, Landrieu and the FBI are going to look like thugs.

Again, just my opinion. Hell, in the 60’s the left would rather have just burned the building down and in some cases did.

2 of Okeefes’ accomplices were posing as telephone repairmen
and asking for access to the telco equipt, the FBI is involved, as well as a Senators son. To be fair, Okeefe
looks like the Titanic or more appropriately Acorn.

It was reported that O’Keefe and 2 others were exasperated about the fact that Landreau’s office would not answer the phones because everyone was calling to register complaint that her vote had been bought with $300 million dollars. O’Keefe and another perosn went inside the office of Landreau, used a walky-talkie to tell a 3rd party down the street (outside) to call so they could record the ringing of the phone not being answered by Landreaus’ receptionist. There was no and is no felony which was committed. The left wants to have O’Keefe twist in the wind as payback for the ACORN exposes’ which showed the MSM to be lamestream.

OlberDork is running wild with this. He has 3 reporters on it and frothing like it's the scandal of the century. Unfortunately, #1 buttboy Schuster reported that the “listening device” reported was actually a walkie-talkie or cell phone. OlberDork questioned why a man in a van would have such a device. Gasping with laughter from all this.

I will wait until the whole story is out before making judgement. As usual there is probably more to the story.

Tuesday, January 26, 2010... An Interview With Andrew Breitbart About The O'Keefe Arrest Posted by: Hugh Hewitt at 8:03 PM

[from interview]AB: Let me also state this, because this is new in the Associated Press copy. O’Keefe said, “Veritas,” Latin for truth, as he left a suburban jail Tuesday with suspect Stan Dai and Joseph Basel, both 24. All declined to comment. There will be a time for that, Dai said. As he got into a cab outside of jail, O’Keefe said the truth shall set me free. So right now, what we have is information that is coming from the mainstream press that is presuming James O’Keefe’s guilt. This is a highly motivated press right now to take the story line that’s being spoon-fed by people that I don’t even know, to make sure that he’s guilty. And he’s going to have to prove himself innocent. And I’m not going to get into speculation as to what happened. I need to get as much information as I can. And from the standpoint of the blogosphere, and upholding the highest standards possible, we’ve put up my statement on all three of the sites – Big Government, Big Hollywood and Big Journalism, along with the latest Associated Press copy, to make sure that we’re not trying to avoid this story, to pretend that it’s not happening.

Too easy..too out in the open...as I said who tends to lose the most in this scenario? Part I., Part 2......

ACORN involved corruption [billions] with taxpayer money...

Ah! So that's where the "Watergate" stuff comes from...

Louisiana Democratic Party Chair Michael McHale released the following statement in response to the arrest of four conservative activists in connection with a conspiracy to wiretap the phone of Senator Mary Landrieu:

"This is a Louisiana Watergate.Louisiana families are shocked and outraged that these men would break the law to carry out their political agenda with this Watergate-like break-in and attempted wiretapping.

They're desperate to keep Louisiana under the thumb.

The Louisiana Democratic Party in the statement did not specify which ties Senator Vitter might have to any of the “ players involved”. Vitter is a Republican US Senator.

As somebody who was fairly intimately familiar with this exactly situation and how you would do it if you were actually going to do it.....

There is virtually no chance these amateurs were going to ‘wiretap’ anything. If you’ve ever seen a Federal building PBX closet, you’d know that unless you actually DID work for the phone company at one point and you actually had the correct equipment (like one of those oversized orange handset looking things which alligator clips on it). For even an office the size of Landreiu, there could be a dozen phone lines alone and all the other lines on that floor will probably be in the same box because they were wired decades ago.

The only way to find the Senators actual phone lines if you were actually going to the PBX would be to attach your handset onto random lines and listen to them to hear if the conversations were coming from her office. Or you would have to originate a tone from the phone company on the offending main line and then tap that one (which would require actual phone company employees).

On this completely unworkable notion that these four kids are going to be charged with felon entrance into a Federal bldg by false pretense has one gigantic hole in it. You HAVE TO BE INTENT ON COMMITTING A FELONY for this charge to be filed. The affi filed by the FBI agent does not indicate that any of the subjects actually confessed to INTENT TO COMMIT A FELONY (as in actual wiretapping).

People who are strippers who pretend to be delivery guys and enter a Federal building only to start stripping and grinding on some unsuspecting birthday girl in a Federal office are no more guilty of this charge. The strippers don’t tell the security guards that they are strippers when they pass through the metal detectors. But they aren’t FELONs and they don’t face 10 years and/or $250,000 in fines.

There is NO WAY IN HELL these charges even make it to a trial. There could be some manufactured misdeamenor charges possible since anything you do on Federal property is a crime if the FBI doesn’t like you (you might beat the rap with a jury but they can torture you until you do).

O’Keefe needs to spend a little more time speaking to actual private investigators and maybe some former FBI agents who did public corruption. There are plenty of ways to have documented this without having gotten close to the line legally.
