Sen. John McCain, the man who brought Sarah Palin to national prominence, is being challenged for re-election in the GOP primary by former U.S. Rep. J.D. Hayworth. Palin recently announced that she plans to travel to Arizona to campaign on McCains behalf, but posters on her Facebook page are not at all happy with their Sarah:
Sarah, it was fun, but now you are done.
Sarah, your support of McCain shows bad judgment and brings into question the validity of your words. You can forget any political ambition if you support Amnesty which John McCain does. Conservatives dont forget.
You do know Senator McCain is a PROGRESSIVE? It is very disappointing that you are campaigning for him instead of J.D. Hayworth. McCain needs to go!
Sorry to hear that you are supporting McCain. Up to now, I thought you were part of the solution, but youve shown yourself to be part of the problem.
McCain!? Are you kidding me? Time to pick a side, Sarah Are you with the people, or against them?
I agree with those who advise you not to campaign for Senator McCain. He really doesnt represent the views of grassroot conservatives. He represents those in the GOP who have too often been willing to compromise on principle, or even worse, have failed to really understand basic conservative principles.
McCain used Palin like a cheap tool to keep from getting beat worse than Reagan did to Mondale. His staff mocked her and showed no respect. Now McCain is using her again like a cheap tool and this time she is willingly doing it under the guise of loyalty. As long as McCain is the face of the GOP, conservatives are irrelevant. Palin is playing politics and this goes against what she supposedly represents. She helps elect McCain, shes done.
I respect your loyalty to McCain, Sarah, but he really is using you. You need to do what you are obligated to do for him, and then run as far away from him as possible. Hes widely despised in the Conservative movement, and youll be hurting yourself badly with your support base if you do more than offer your token support or speak on his behalf.
McCain is not a commonsense candidate. If you support him your future as a conservative candidate is over.
Another day ~ another appeal to our girl from Wasilla: PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not follow through with your plan to campaign for John McCain. In the insightful words of Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman: Big mistake. Big. Huge. To do so will destroy your credibility, have your enemies carping: I told you so, and leave your fans devastated.
Thats just a small sampling of some 2,500 comments, and I have to admit to being surprised by the vehemence and near-unanimity of that sentiment. It makes me think that McCain might eventually have real trouble in the Arizona primary.
Well since you asked:
HOUSTON, TX, Tuesday, January 12, 2010 Debra Medina, Republican Candidate for Governor today released her plan for securing the Texas border in a joint press conference with the U.S. Border Watch. "Failure to enforce state and federal laws has contributed to abuse of property and humanity all along the Texas border. We can no longer turn a blind eye on the situation and will, in order to protect our citizens and their property, take matters into our own hands to insure peace and protection along the Texas border," stated Medina. Medina has engaged in discussions with border sheriffs and will work closely with them to complement their efforts. U.S. Border Watch has recently endorsed Debra Medina stating, "U.S. Border Watch is deeply concerned about the lack of progress being made from both Washington DC and Austin, TX in securing our borders from drug smugglers, terrorists and illegal immigrants. The two candidates for the Republican nomination for Governor who currently hold elected offices (that of Senator and Governor) have repeatedly made promises and then turned their backs on these issues or completely reversed their campaign promises. They have consistently failed to protect the rule of law and the citizens of this great state." "Medina knows the U.S. and Texas Constitutions and the power that lies in the rule of law. This is, after all is said and done, a rule of law issue. Debra Medina has the courage to enforce those laws that protect the people and the property of Texas from the ravages of an unsecured border." Recent reports by the Texas Department of Public Safety document increased efforts by drug cartels on both sides of the border to "co-opt our children to support their criminal operations."i These reports provide even more evidence that Texas must act and must act now to protect her citizens and their children. Steven McCraw, director of the Texas Department of Public Safety recently commented, "The concern is that the gangs are now being used by the cartels on both sides of the border for hit squads, human smuggling and counter surveillance."ii "Citizens have been seriously disappointed by the campaign double-speak from both Senator Hutchison and Governor Perry on this issue. Weve heard their rhetoric. Its time to get serious about protecting the Texas border. Debra is the only one who will take bold and decisive action to secure the Texas border," said campaign manager Penny Freeman. Medinas plan to secure the border includes: * Calling sufficient numbers of Texas National Guard and Texas State Guard members to active duty to support local law enforcement particularly along areas in between legal ports of entry to combat drug and human trafficking; * Notifying Mexican authorities that the Texas Border will be secure and no entry will be allowed without proper documentation; * Insuring that Texas District Attorneys and Texas Attorney General exercise full prosecutorial power and have sufficient resources to enforce human slavery and child labor laws to their fullest extent; * Assisting local and state law enforcement in deporting individuals convicted of violating state or federal law; * Insuring that private citizens have the ability to protect themselves and their property without fear; * Insuring that the interests of Texans are protected by seeking legislation and enforcement actions that respect Texas sovereignty in the face of international treaties, like NAFTA, that violate Texas state sovereignty; These treaties create poverty in Mexico and Central America and benefit corporate investors. This poverty drives people to migrate north. Insuring that the interests of Texans are protected, Debra Medina will interpose, support nullification and declare unconstitutional all international treaties that violate Texas state sovereignty. We will not recognize those treaties or enforce their regulation or taxation. * Eliminating social incentives to illegal immigration by seeking legislation prohibiting use of state funds for service or benefit of illegal aliens. "This is a decisive plan that makes sense to the citizens of TexasAnglo and Mexican American alike. But common sense is in short supply in Austin and Washington and our current governor and ranking senator have had long enough to enforce our current immigration laws or find new solutions," stated Freeman. "They have been insulated from the problems facing We Texans for way too long. Debra is the only candidate who truly cares about We Texans and will act to protect Texas."
Seems to me she is addressing the concerns about the border situation without resorting to feeding anti-Mexican sentiments.
To me, this is relevant to the current discussion in that I am trying to justify my support of Sarah (who I personally like) in light of her support of blatant rinos like Perry and McCain.
MY favorite post on that thread is the one by Jim Robinson, it represents a lot of conservatives.

To: Bob J
I love Palins conservatism and patriotism! She may very well support McCain out of loyalty and I have no problem with that. And I have no problem with whom she supports with her PAC. There is nothing written that says she has to do everything (or anything at all) according to JIM.
Sarah is unabashedly pro-God, pro-Life, pro-Liberty, pro-family, pro-America, pro-constitution, pro-gun, pro-limited government and so am I. And shes wildly popular among the God-loving, Liberty-loving folks with whom I choose to associate. In short, shes a refreshing breath of clean fresh air in an otherwise putrid failure of a RINO infested party.
She represents my interests better than any other viable wannabe at this point and if she decides to run, she will have my undivided support!!
Romney, the draft-dodging, Big Government, lying statist political whore can KMA!!
And your picture does say a 1,000 words, but Bob, unfortunately theyre all about YOU and political whores like you and the results and likely outcome of your slavish, cultish RINOism!!
So you can shove your picture and your RINOs where the sun dont shine.
Sarah has more guts, talent, ability, patriotism, and sheer determination and love for America and our God-given Liberty than you and Romney and a thousand other RINOS will ever have!
Its been more than obvious for several years that our pro-Life & Liberty Free Republic has become an embarrassment for you, so why the hell dont you just take a fricken hike already!!
Shove it, pal.
GET THE HELL OFF FR if you dont like it, but whatever you do quit your damn whining and pestering good conservative FReepers about your hatred for Sarah Palin!! Its beyond sickening.

“Palin is Reagan and everyone is gaga, then bam shes a backstabbing RINO...now some guy named Hayworth is Reagan...and the whole time Romney is rubbing his hands together like Snidely Whiplash..”
Well, in the least, the MittBots are in the game. Most of these 1%’rs are just keen on destroying the GOP, so their no name candidate can triple his percentage of votes from 1% to 3%.
Funny thing is that the Dems came right out and said their strategic path was to split Palin and the Tea Party people from the establishment Republicans.
Are conservatives gullible enough to fall for this? If it can happen here at FR, I say yes it can happen.
I used to actually respect the Third Party crowd, but their tactics and strategy look way way too much like Leftist Dem tactics for me.
They are the enemy to me now. Every bit as much an enemy as a Democrat. Maybe moreso.
I went through your posting history a while back and this is what I found.
Bob J has gotten behind Newt, Romney, McCain, and has always been very nice about Giuliani, but Bob hates Palin.
Keep posting that, every time you do my FR favorability rating goes up 2%.
“Bob J has gotten behind Newt, Romney, McCain, and has always been very nice about Giuliani, but Bob hates Palin.’
I’m sorry. You said you went through MY posting history but even the most scatalogical Palin supporter can see that was not a first person quote from me.
Did you post that? If not I believe it might have been the Palin supporter who posted the masterbatory comment to me.
Some on this thread are being Punked.
They post as Conservatives but are on a
RINO Ron Paul supporter thread.
The same anti war, 9/11 Truther Ron Paul
Who said we deserved 9/11 because we are occupiers
and Imperial America.
Ron Paul who has stated North Korea and Iran are not a threat to America.
No. Payment of a debt. After this the slate is clean.
LOL, did you see quote marks in there?
You have supported Newt, Romney, McCain, been warm about Giuliani, but you hate Palin with such a passion that you have to be admonished for it occasionally by management,
Uh, no, they’re not. The same people who “bravo” her other posts are the ones who are warning her about her support of McLame.
Hmmm. So this negative reaction from FReepers about Palin’s McCain endorsement is in reality a grand propaganda scheme of George Soros and the MSM to divide Palin from her adoring fans, particularly the ones who don’t know it yet.
Do you have any idea how patronizing and demeaning that is to FReepers? You’re saying that none of can think for ourselves, that we are being led around by the nose on a Soros tether and if it wasn’t for our stupidity and lack of courage we’d all be singing the praise of Palin?
Hmmm, that may be a good campaign slogan for Palin in 2012...”Vote for me because you’re too stupid to know when you’ve been hoodwinked”.
I go a question for you. Was that a Soros puppet that was endorsing McCain?
See post 162 for clarification and a near death experience.
When Sarah shows up for that Arizona stump speech, are they coming to see McCain or HER. Who do you think the crowds will be cheering for. McCain or HER. :)
Think about it. I’ll let that ruminate in your heads.
She pays back McCain for picking her (which elevated her career on the national stage) and demonstrats LOYALTY.
McCain can win or lose and Sarah comes out smelling like a rose. The only ones who hate this are.....
1. Concerned Trolls who are not Palin fans (and never were).
2. MSM who are looking for any kind of controversy.
3. “Purists” who hate McCain so much that they’ll lynch Palin out of spite.
4. Fair weather fans who at the slight hint of controversy will melt and wither.
Buck up boyos !!!
Well, why don’t you post the screen names of those Paul infiltrators so we can separate them from the real FReepers indignant over this uncomprehensible Palin endorsement?
Or are you saying anyone questioning it is a Paul infiltrator? Because if that’s what you’re alleging you’re in for a world of hurt from long time FReepers who don’t like their honor being questioned in such a scatalogical, masterbatory manner.
“So this negative reaction from FReepers about Palins McCain endorsement is in reality a grand propaganda scheme of George Soros and the MSM to divide Palin from her adoring fans, particularly the ones who dont know it yet.”
Hugh, who said that? Do you just make shit up Bob?
I know some of your compatriots live in a fantasy land, but try to keep the fantasies and delusions to your buds in freepmail.
Since you were a big McCain supporter, I find it very interesting that you are “up in arms” regarding Palin endorsing McCain....lol.
“You have supported Newt, Romney, McCain, been warm about Giuliani...”
I also had nice things to say about Thompson, Hunter and others. I’ve said bad things about them as well. When they do something good I praise them and when they so something bad I criticize them.
It’s called objective balance, something Palinistas gave up the first time Palin said “You betcha” and decided she’s “Oh my God, just like me!”.
I don’t want somebody “like me” in the oval office. I want a super star and I’m not talking about the Lady Gaga type superstar.
Have you seen this?
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0110/31991.html
“Think about it.”
Everytime someone of FR posts “think about it” I’m thinking the OP hasn’t really thought about it and wants someone else to do their thinking for them.
