Probably a drunken Brit. This happens remarkably often with flights from Britain. Though, usualy that are flights to Eastern Europe where they go over the weekend for cheap binge drinking.

Updated story says a Spanish National, from the Canary Islands. Since that is off the coast of Moroco and Western Sahara, both heavily Muslim, they might have some Muslim nationals. A search for "Canary Islands mosques", indicates there are some, and their numbers are increasing.

He's said to have had a "panic attack". Maybe he was afraid he wouldn't get his 72 virgins? :)
