Tons of Pubs are making bipartisan noises right now. This is all a ploy. It gives them the chance to talk the talk without having to walk the walk, because theres no way in hell the Dims are going to do anything at all in a bipartisan fashion.
When the Dims continue to do their secret closed-door thing, the Pubs will shrug their shoulders and say We tried. We arent the bad guys, they are. We offered to work with them and they still tried to govern in secret. Tsk, tsk, tsk.
Bingo. McCain is an unreliable squish who loves to think of himself as Solomon, but in this case, it’s good strategy.
The Dems will pass nothing that is not a tweak of what they already have. If they “start over”, nothing will get done this year, an election year in which anything with the label “health care” on it is poison.
Anything McCain or the GOP proposes has to be popular enough to be able to cause the GOP to survive the November elections (and his own August primary) and anything that even remotely resembles Obamacare will not achieve that.
The voice of maturity, reason, and strategery. Thank you.
Perhaps. But I fear that, to McCain, it's not a "ploy". It's serious as a bi-partisan back stabber can be.
