The next time I get another solicitation from the RNC for a contribution, I can enclose this quote with an added hand-written note: "Get this clown off the stage and maybe you will see some money from me. Until then, I can't tell the difference between you and the Democrats. Sending you people money now is like giving cash to a drug addict and expecting you to buy a new suit so you can look for a job."

I think you’ll find that McCain is more of a headache when the GOP is in the majority than when we are in the minority.
McCain has Hayworth on his heels. McCain cannot cut a deal or he invites disaster for himself; and I assure you that everything he said has been cleared by McConnell and Kyl. We want to appear reasonable and willing to talk. This is for MSM and public consumption only. We want to keep the focus on the RATs and their ineptitude in getting a bill passed with overwhelming majorities in both chambers.
Every day that goes by is one day closer to November 2010. Let’s enjoy the Scott Brown win and the political earthquake that has hit DC. McCain is NOT going to undermine Scott Brown, and to his credit McCain supported Brown before any other GOP senator did.
I despise McCain, he was an abysmal candidate for our party, but he is sending the right signals of accommodation for now. It is entirely for public consumption to keep the heat on the RATs and to divide them further.

That brings up another point. I will no longer support Palin if she doesn’t give McCain a pass.
Those are two good places to start. Equalizing the tax treatment of employer provided and individually purchased insurance would help as well.
In principle, health benefits should count as taxable income, but that's probably politically radioactive at this point. A good way to proceed would be to allow a generous refundable tax credit for the purchase of insurance, with funds not used for insurance becoming cash income.
Come to think of it, some fellow named George Bush proposed that. Think enough time has passed for someone else to rediscover the idea?
Palin has already committed to campaigning for McCain in March. As I said, you dance with those who brung ya in this business. It’s a smart move on her part if she has presidential ambitions - broadens her conatituency.

Again, foe public consumption only. Brown is going thru the “healing statements” for Massachusetts. The likelihood of ANY deal is probably 1 percent. Why would the GOP let the RATS off the hook 10 months before November? Won’t happen.

B.S. He used Palin. She helped to prevent his campaign from becoming a miserable disaster.
McCain’s campaign continued to work against Palin long after the battle for POTUS was over. Does the name Schmidt ring a bell?
Palin was brought aboard to help McCain win the Presidency, not to do favors for a soccer mom in Alaska.

McCain is hardly my favorite senator and he was a lousy presidential candidate, as well. I don’t like the bipartisan schtick from McCain any more than you do.
That said, McCain is bringing Palin on board to help with his re-election and that is a smart move on both of their parts. As to those who suggest Palin owes McCain nothing, that is absurd on its face. He selected a long-shot, an entirely unknown female Governor and has made her a household name.
You can scream and whine until the cows come home, but Hayworth is not going to defeat McCain in the GOP primary and McCain will be around for another 6 years.
