Met him a few times, nothing between the ears. My business had some ties with him, he is all photo ops, no substance.

Nope, I’m not a huge McCain fan, but JD is an oaf. Not ever going to vote for him.

If Flake ran, I’d vote for him.

He also got Sarah to commit way to early.

To me, this was her only tactical mistake. Then again, I'm sure McCain pushed this timetable on her for reasons she didn't see coming (face it, she's still a rookie as to palace intrigue at this level).

If he were running unopposed in the primary, it looked like she would just be supporting him against a worse Rat. That's acceptable to me.

With JD in the race, she'll find a way to recalibrate.

The duct tape could not have appeared at a better time. Priceless!

In fact, the timing was so delicious, it got me wondering if Cindy were not deliberately trying to publicly stick it to the man as he was trying to save his own political butt one more time.

Sort of a “no soup for you” move by Cindy.

“But was there a primary race when McCain asked for her help or was he running unopposed at that time?”

JD’s entry has been anticipated for several months. The first Rasmussen poll that showed a Hayworth/McCain race as a deadheat was released more than a month ago. And, JD has talked about this for several months on his radio show, to the extent that he could. People have been encouraging him for months.

So, his very likely entry into the race was known well before it was announced that Sarah would be supporting McCain.

I hope Sarah will find a way to disassociate from McCain. There will be stark differences in the positions of McCain and Hayworth. Hayworth is a real deal conservative, and it won’t be beneficial for Sarah to oppose him for seven months until the vote.

Actually, that first Rasmussen poll is from November 20th, two full months ago. That’s why McCain got her involved in his campaign:

She stated “what is it about “ILLEGAL that you don’t understand?”

That doesn't answer the question of what do you do with the 12 to 20 million illegals already here. It is evasive and doesn't answer the real question. This is what she said in the famous Univision interview:

Univision: As governor, how do you deal with them? Do you think they all should be deported?

Palin: There is no way that in the US we would roundup every illegal immigrant -there are about 12 million of the illegal immigrants- not only economically is that just an impossibility but that's not a humane way anyway to deal with the issue that we face with illegal immigration.

Univision:Do you then favor an amnesty for the 12 or 13 million undocumented immigrants?

Palin: No, I do not. I do not. Not total amnesty. You know, people have got to follow the rules. They've got to follow the bar, and we have got to make sure that there is equal opportunity and those who are here legally should be first in line for services being provided and those opportunities that this great country provides.

Univision: To clarify, so you support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants?

I do because I understand why people would want to be in America. To seek the safety and prosperity, the opportunities, the health that is here. It is so important that yes, people follow the rules so that people can be treated equally and fairly in this country.

This is a State PRIMARY! Not a general election. She should stay out, and support the winner in the general.

I love her. I’m one of her very earliest out of State supporters. But, you have to admit, she’s made some missteps in her learning curve. This is one of, if not the, worst. Mark my words, if she does this, it’s gonna’ leave a mark.

LOL. Still trotting out that Humphrey interview. I suggest you listen more closely. As a grassroots immigration activist who lobbies on the Hill, I am very attuned to the Orwellian use of language to deceive and fool.

First everyone is in favor of secure borders, including Obama and McCain and Hillary. They all signed the secure fence act.

The litmus test is what do you do with the 12 to 20 million illegal aliens in this country. The Univision interview put Palin on the spot because they understand the issue and the questions to ask.

Palin has not said that she would be against legalizing the status of the illegals or that she would favor deportation/attrition thru enforcement. She is dancing around the subject hoping that people like you would infer something that she has not said. We need to ask her the Univision questions again and see what she says.

As I said at # 335, McCain had Palin on the spot whether she said "yes" or "no."

So, saying yes -- especially since McCain was unopposed in the primary at the time --- fulfilled the loyalty issue (which will be done with after this go-round) and kept her from being further savaged as an ungrateful wench who couldn't lift a finger for a man she'd said would make a good President of the United States in 2008.

Exactly. And so what if she goes to a few rubber chicken banquets and says “he’s a great man” a few times. She gets this over with and moves on.

Palin: we need to close the borders.

They are called illegal aliens for a reason and if they are not going to follow the rules they should not be in our country.

It’s pretty simple I ratched that one down to the simple answer because its an easier answer than some politicians want it to make it be.

you close the borders. You get more agressive about cracking down on the illegal aliens and we take it serious what our border patrol officers are trying to do

You're lying.

Flake is a social conservative Mormon.

I've read your (very few) posts on Free Republic. You mock Christians.

You're a troll. I'm calling you out. You're a liar and you're here to subtly sabotage this primary.

Did she actually “endorse” him? I see that as something different from “agreed to campaign” for him — i.e., agreed to go to some fundraisers, whatever.

I am in San Diego, 20 miles north from the border with Mexico.
I have no problem with what Sarah Palin has to say.
