The headline is from the unciteable B-berg.
I didn't know the Prince was such a big holder of News Corp. He took a royal hit on his Citi stock, I know that.
Probably not a bad guy.
It's clear that there is at least some members of the Murdoch family that want to take the empire - and especially FoxNews - in a completely different direction.
Al Fox Jazeera... coming sooner or later
I’d read sometime back that Rupert’s only conservative son had essentially been drummed out of the company. It’ll be too bad if Fox ends up like the rest of the mainstream media. I won’t have anything to watch on tv anymore!
I do have a hunch that islamic influence in media is a concern.
It was Matthew Freud, Elizabeth Murdoch’s husband, who openly demanded that Ailes should be fired. Left wing sources seem to think that James would agree; but I hope they’re wrong.
It is a problem, certainly. I don’t think Murdoch is all that conservative, but he knows how to make money. I’m not sure if his kids understand that sort of thing. He tried to groom them, and didn’t seem to be succeeding very well.
Often a problem with second and third generation control of a successful corporation.
I had also read in Lloyd Grove's piece at the Daily Beast (so take it for what it's worth) that Rupert's wife - name escapes me - was also working to get Ailes fired. I presume that Rupert and his new(er) wife have an iron-clade prenup. I hope she doesn't get much in way of Newscorp stock when he finally goes over the rainbow.
I think I read that the kids get the stock. But it’s going to be a whole new ball game when Rupert kicks the bucket, I’m afraid. He tried to teach the kids the business, and the value of hard work, but when you’re born into that kind of fame and fortune it’s very rare that you can escape its weakening influence.
On a completely tangential subject, this is one aspect of Donald Trump success as a father that impresses me. Trump is a self-promoting gasbag, but somehow he managed to raise three kids (it's too soon to tell for the two youngest) that stayed away from drugs, did great and school, work hard and seem to have the same hunger for success as their old man. It's really quite something.
