Congratulations, you did it!
It wasnt Scott Brown, or Martha Coakley or even Dick Cheneys Vote-Stealing-And-Weather-Control Machine.
It was you. You won this election.
Not to take anything away from Sen.-elect Brown (the phrase just rolls off the tongue, doesnt it?), or to lessen the value of those 200,000 miles he put on the Truck Heard Round The World. He has real political talent, and hes going to need it to survive 2012 with Barack Obama at the top of the Democratic ticket.
The national press has focused on this election as a referendum on Obamacare, and thats certainly part of the story. But this e-mail yesterday from a Brown supporter tells the real story:
Its about the 25 percent increase in sales tax, Devals promise to cut property taxes, Dianne Wilkerson padding her bra, Chuck Turner kickbacks, Galluccios DUI, Buonomo ripping off the copiers at the Registry of Deeds, Gerald Amirault, three indicted speakers and four criminal senators.

The biggest cheer I heard was yelled at John Kerry. "Kerry's next, Kerry's next." It is not over in this State either. Every town in Massachusetts is going to have their local aid cut. That means every town will be requesting prop. 21/2 overrides to make up for the short fall. People are angry here and they are going to be even more angry. The people are finally waking up.
Just as long as people understand that it was Conservatism that won yesterday, not Republicanism.
The Massachusetts Republican Party was the vehicle that got Brown elected, but it was his clear expression of Conservatism and Conservative values that won that election.
The message was sent...loud and clear....
I’m just not sure how many democrats actually heard it...or if it really registered...Those like Pelosi are so caught up in their own importance they don’t believe “the people” have any say over them...That woman really needs a mental evaluation...
Thanks for the information. My, my, my - the thought of the people of MA awaking from their long Camelot slumber is beautiful. I hope you know your peeps:)
The haughty Dems at the top think they can go back and tell the same lies they told to get elected in 2006 and 2008 and that we won’t remember what they did in 2009 while they thought they were impregnable.
The Democrats might “hear” the voices and the opinion out there, but do you think they are listening? To be sure, they will take absolutely the wrong lesson from this train wreck they just went through, and double down on a losing hand.
Card players they ain’t.
“Kerry’s next, Kerry’s next.”
That has a nice ring to it.
Dear Obama and Democrats:
We are not Europe. We do not want to be Europe. We are not socialists, we are free marketer.
We don’t want you running our banks.
We don’t want you running the real estate market.
We don’t want you running our auto companies.
We don’t want you telling us how much we must weigh.
We don’t want you telling us what we can and cannot eat.
We don’t want you setting our thermostats.
We CERTAINLY don’t want you making our medical decisions.
GET THE F*****K OUT OF OUR LIVES.
If there is any part of this message you do not understand... we will repeat it again in NOVEMBER 2010 !
They didn’t hear it. I have heard 3 Democrat politicians say THIS MORNING that the American people just don’t understand the bill, the need for the kinds of changes that they want to make with healthcare. So they are saying they they need to EXPLAIN themselves better. That the president needs to give a full-throated explanation for his plan. I can’t believe that they are this tone deaf.
The message is “stop pushing this country toward socialism.” Knowing Democrats, they won’t get the message.
"The left is pissed. They've seen an escalation in a war that they oppose, with no end in sight for either war. They've seen the LGBT community thrown under the bus. They've seen banksters bailed out while the rest of us continue to suffer. They've seen what was supposed to be healthcare reform turned into a club that is going to be used to beat on the middle class and the unions. They've seen education shoved over the cliff of privatization. Make no mistake, the reason that Coakley lost is because the left either withheld their votes, or voted for Brown."
The last sentence is clearly true. what isn't fully clear is why that is true. I think that this was an angry electorate. I think much of that anger was directed at Obama yesterday but I think we should let more information roll in before we assume that the most liberal state in America is all of a sudden turning conservative.
Read this article if you want to know how this race was won. Everyone else has opinions but I would saw Michael Graham has the facts. Ignore this article at your own peril.
Yup, GTFO, STFA, STFU!
Michael Graham spells out the reasons in this article. You would have to be living here really understand it.
Thanks as well to David Gergen for providing the opportunity for the best campaign slogan......It’s the people’s seat!!
The largest group of voters in Mass. are registered independent, not Democrat.
This was the Enough is Enough election, when the second-class citizens told the arrogant ruling class that theyve flunked out.
We down here in Texas have so far been lucky. I have no illusions about our leadership. No one thinks of Perry or Hutchison or Medina —the candidates for governor as being much more than hacks. Ditto, White the probably Dim candidate. The difference is simply that Pubbies believe in marginally smaller government and White, no matter what he says, is in the end a Democrat, and if he were to be elected and get a Democratic House—as he might—the Dims would erase that margin that allows business to flourish or at least get by.
My belief is that working people have finally gotten fed up with government incompetence and corruption.
Those two examples are included in nearly 100% of every Democrat controlled entity in America. People are seeing the light. The road to happiness does not include higher taxes.
Congrats Massachusetts! You have finally discovered the root cause of problems in America......Progressive thinking and Democrats are not compatible.
