Whereas: The people of the State Of Texas have heard from Rick Perry and Kay Bailey Hutchison for years and would like a fresh voice,
Whereas: Debra Medina offers new ideas and something different from politics as usual,
Whereas: Belo exposes its corruption and pro-big government bias by only including the big government candidates,
Whereas: The criteria (found at http://j.mp/5bJNqb) given by Belo for inclusion in the January 29 debate make it impossible for any candidate who has not been already entrenched in government to be included in the debate (which would have excluded, among others, candidate George W Bush from this debate),
Whereas: The criteria given by Belo for inclusion in the January 29 debate require high polling numbers, based on the irrelevant criteria used for US presidential debates, the fields of which are quite a bit larger than the three GOP candidates for Texas governor,
Whereas: Debra Medina's lower poll numbers can be blamed largely on the fact that the media (ie Belo and WFAA TV) ignore her and disenfranchise her at every opportunity,
Whereas: Belo, in ignoring Debra Medina in order to maintain her lower poll numbers, by neglecting to mention her in the WFAA newscast after the debate and by using this headline in the following day's Dallas Morning News: "GOP foes Perry, Hutchison slug it out in first debate" while only mentioning Debra Medina twice, in paragraphs 5 and 23 of the article, exposes its bias against Debra Medina.
Whereas: The Belo press release (found at http://j.mp/5bJNqb) states "The FCC and other bodies grant stations the right to exercise good faith news judgment in determining which candidates participate in televised debates, and to use reasonable news judgment in reaching such decisions, with the intent to neither promote a candidate nor create a disadvantage for a candidate." The exclusion of Debra Medina from Belo's debate, because of their obvious bias against her, clearly violates the "good faith" clause as well as the "promote...nor create a disadvantage for a candidate" clause.
Therefore: Be it known that we, the People of the State of Texas and all believers in democratic elections in the United States of America, demand inclusion of Our Candidate for the Governorship of this State in the Belo debate. Ignoring Debra Medina is ignoring the People of Texas.
BuckeyeTexan, can you ping your TX Governor’s Race list?
Medina is a down to earth, knows her stuff, seemingly trustworthy person.
No Hutch. Perry was my guy but this domain crap and toll roads that
give money to foreign countries...not good.
Ping!
Thanks for the ping
Basil you may want to send to others that you know that are supporting Medina.
Except for that druggie crap;
what's she doing, financing her campaign with marijuana sales???
Ping
Freepmail me or ping me from the original thread to get on/off the 2010 Texas Governor's Race ping list.
Huh?
A-freaking-men! Saw the front page of the Dallas Morning Spews this morning. If you just looked at the above the fold picture, you'd think there were only 2 candidates at the debate! Naturally, the Spews only supports the big-government RINOs!
The article that began this thread is almost a year old.
I watched the debate Thursday night from the Univ. of North Texas on PBS.
Medina only had a couple of decent points to make (securing the border), but otherwise just kept repeating her memorized talking points instead of answering questions in a direct manner. Lightweight.
Hutchison was the typical D.C. harpy who managed to somehow launch an attack on Perry and accuse him of lieing with almost every one of her responses to questions.
Don’t believe anything you read in the liberal rag that is published under the banner of the Dallas Morning News.
Huh? again
what’s with you?
Thanks for the ping! I’ll get busy on it.
Thanks for the ping! I’ll get busy on it.
Ooops! Admin, would you please fix the article date. It should be 1/15/2010.
On the fact that she has no chance and no funding and no support.
She is a darn fine nurse though, I'm sure.
Weren’t they saying that about Scott Brown just 4 weeks ago?
Not saying she’s got the same dynamic as his going. Just that the same ole rules about “chance”, “funding” and “support” don’t apply any more. Those things can change very, very quickly.
Explain please. I’m not aware.
Petition signed, sealed and delivered. Thanks for the post and the ping. I sent off emails to Dallas Morning News too and got things off my chest, LOL....in a respectful way of course.
