The blood was from his stitches coming apart as he played baseball. It happened twice.

The man had experimental surgery on his tendon twice prior to game time. The surgery is now called the Schilling Tendon Procedure.

At one point he ended up with a nerve being accidentally stitched up which left him unable to use his leg at all. Really, what the man did will not be forgotten by Red Sox fans. How many athletes would ever agree to experimental surgery for a game?

Whoa! Thank you so much.

I have to say, I haven’t watched a game since I moved up here to Detroit and left the Tribe behind in Cleveland. But that is an amazing story.

Massachusetts is not that big of a state. How could one NOT know about this man if you live there? Is she from another state?
