granted, i am not a money guy - but it makes no sense that the banks HAD to have these tarp loans because they were in bad shape - so now we are going to tax them because they needed help

Of the expected 50 financial institutions that would be subject to the fee, not all are direct recipients of bailout money. But the administration is arguing that all of them at least indirectly benefited from the extraordinary policies enacted by the federal government

It is no different than the principal that if you don't need the money, they will give it to you.

If you overdraw your checking account, they then charge you more money. If you want overdraft protection, you pay an annual fee.

If you are late on a credit card payment, they charge you even more.

Now, though Obama complains about banks’ “predatory behavior,” he thinks that they may be on to something. If the banks needed money to cover their loans, then the government will charge them more.

So, does that now mean that the Obama administration is in favor of late fees?
