He may be a crank, but hes consistent in his crankery. Anywhere theres human misery after 9/11, after Katrina, even after Ariel Sharons stroke Reverend Pat will be there to explain to the victims why they deserved it. (And hes not the only one.) Hes taking a beating on Twitter right now for having said this, including/especially from Christians who dont want to see the faith smeared by his latest Old Testament thunderbolt theory. No worries there: Other Christian leaders, starting with the Pope and Franklin Graham, are taking a more New Testament view. But even conceding that he doesnt speak for most Christians, he does still command a sizable following, no? Even after years of barfing up stuff like this.
If youre wondering what the pact with the devil is all about (fact check: roughly 95 percent of Haitians are Christian), Tapper has some quickie background. Tongue-in-cheek exit question from MKH: According to the Harry Reid standard, shouldnt Robertsons charitable works absolve him from any and all offensive utterances?
Pat has needed to retire for a long time.
consider it crankery but actually, I’ve read the same thing in one of those “strange but true” books. take that for what it cost you to just read it!
There’s only one reason they have Robertson on, and that’s because they know he will say something stupid and inappropriate.
A voodoo Priest stuck a pin in the wrong place. Actually they have big real VooDoo down there.
Well, for my two cents, I don’t believe that Haiti suffered this earthquake because of voodoo. Haiti suffered this earthquake because two tectonic plates built up a pile of tension and then released that tension, resulting in the unfortunate destruction of numerous, poorly-constructed buildings. It is an unfortunate chapter in the continuing misery of an unfortunate nation. I wish all of G-d’s blessings upon all the people suffering there.
What some people will do for attention!
Some idiot Democrat on another site posted something like “Republican Presidential candidate Pat Robertson says Haiti made a pact with the devil.”
A good response to that is “Democratic gubernatorial candidate Fred Phelps is a homophobe.”
Hey, if they can imply Robertson is favored by Republican, we can tag Fred Phelps with his running for governor of Kansas on the Democratic ticket, right?
Haiti is like voodoo Ground Zero!
Well, Pat Robertson was a pres. candidate in the ‘88 primaries. But that was so many years ago, it’s misleading to call him a Republican candidate now. That’s why they did it, to score cheap political points.
Of course... and Fred Phelps was a Democratic gubernatorial candidate in Kansas a gazillion years ago. Robertson and Phelps would make an amusing ticket together though, doncha think?
I’m a born-again Christian (since 1984) but somebody has to get Mr. Robinson of the air. I’m not sure if a good PR agent would even help. This comment is absolutely appalling.
Well, you can say he’s nutty - but he’s right:

The guy is praying and raising money for the Haitian people. He’s been running medical and building missions there for years.
I’ll bet the Haitains would rather have one Robertson than 1,000 of the knee-jerk whiners who are spreading this story around.
You will know them by the fruit that they bear.
Pat, honestly, this is really, really bad fruit. Like a great deal of what you do, Pat, this tends toward self-agrandizement and away from the selflessness that honors God. It rains on the just and unjust alike. Had God given you the ability to prophecy with detail what would happen ahead of time, He would have been glorified. But your actions and words have damaged the Gospel message by hardening hearts. Just go away. You are making a habit of this kind of thing.
The circumstantial evidence is on Robertsons side.
The guy is praying and raising money for the Haitian people. Hes been running medical and building missions there for years.”
That is great. He needs to keep quiet on the judgment and keep working to help and serve these people. They need to know that God loves them and cares for them so they can understand the difference and opt for the better way. Jesus did not judge when he healed. As long as people are alive, they have the opportunity to repent and accept Jesus as savior.
“You will know them by the fruit that they bear.”
Operation Blessing which is one of the top Christian Relief Organizations from the 700 Club is mounting a huge relief effort to Haiti. You should read more about what has been said before rushing to judgment. There have been misrepresentations from the MSM. You need to grow up and stop acting like a presumptuous, self-righteous popinjay. The fruit of judging something before you no all of the facts is just as disgustingly rotten as what you imply.
