Democrats launch counterattack to save Harry Reid's career

Democrats are preparing to throw the race card back in the laps of Republicans as part of a counter attack designed to help save Harry Reid’s political career.

First, Reid’s allies plan to distribute the NAACP vote ratings of Republican senators who have scolded him. The data will be made available to editorial boards, cable programs and the blogosphere — including votes on minimum wage, community-oriented policing, education funding and HIV/AIDS programs.

Separately, the Congressional Black Caucus plans to issue a new statement Monday, defending Reid and brushing back Republicans.

“Senator Reid’s record provides a stark contrast to actions of Republicans to block legislation that would benefit poor and minority communities – most recently reflected in Republican opposition to the health bill now under consideration,” CBC Chairwoman Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) said. “I look forward to Senator Reid continuing to serve as Majority Leader to guide this important agenda through the Senate.”

These moves to turn the race issue back onto Republicans is risky, yet it shows how Reid and his allies are ready to pull out all the stops to help the majority leader recover from his disastrous comments about Barack Obama being “light-skinned” and having no “Negro dialect.”

People who think that Reid’s job is in jeopardy (at least until the elections) are fooling themselves. The Democrats fully accept their own behaving badly in the race department and they will never punish any of their own for making any missteps here.

Moral of the Story: We don’t mind if you’re a racist as long as you vote the way we want you to.

Of the opposition, who in their right mind would want Harry Reid to step down, honestly. Their defense strategy is already taking another pound of flesh from their backside for the mid-term and Harry is not going to be re-elected in Nevada.

Would we rather have this bumbling stumbling loan shark wanna-be sent to the back bench for someone with at least an ounce of credibility? Damn, like Daschle and Pelousy, Harry is the gift that keeps on giving.

minimum wage, community-oriented policing, education funding and HIV/AIDS programs.

Really? Just how much help is the minimum wage when 50% of the negro youth are unemployed. And just ask Detroit how liberal education is working for the black community.

All you have to do is look at how the Mass legislature handled vacated federal Senate seats; first by changing the rules to keep a Repub governor from appointing a replacement for Kerry, then changing them back so a Dem governor could replace Kennedy, and now threatening to change again, so that they would not certify the potential election of a Repub senator (who would replace the dem appointed to Kennedy’ seat) until after key Dem-supported votes have taken place.

This is a stupid move by the Democrats, but the Pubbies aren't smart enough to make them pay. Minimum wage has been PROVEN to hurt minorities the most. And please refresh my memory... Which party pulled the plug on a successful voucher program in DC, thus eliminating education opportunities for minority children???

The world as seen by socialists:

If you’re a socialist, you can do no wrong.

If you’re not a socialist, you’re a racist, and every other evil thing we can think to call you.

Exactly. Wound him even more, take his poll numbers down another 10 points or so but hope and pray he stays. We want Dingy's seat in Nov.

The last thing we want is a centrist *sounding* Democrat taking his place.

I was shocked, I shocked, I say, to hear the Reid story at the top of the hourly abc radio news at 0600 and 0700 eastern.

May be, indeed, interesting.

They will release the NAACP ratings of Republican senators? Gee I wonder what that will reveal. Most of them scoring pretty low I hope. They ought to wear that as a badge of honor since they are a lefty, divisive organization. They favor preferential treatment over equality, so that puts them at odds with a majority of Americans. The are “out of the mainstream” to use one of the Dems’ favorite cliches.

Perhaps some in the MSM realize Dingy Harry is driving the Democrat Party over a cliff and is trying to protect the soften the 2010 blow by getting Harry tossed.

And as we all KNOW, minimum wage, “community policing,” education and AIDS are all race issues.
