Doesn't look like California is going to get much financial help from its Senate delegation.
Just hours after Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger made an impassioned argument for more federal funds -- noting that the state gets back just 78 cents for every dollar it sends to Washington, D.C. -- Senator Dianne Feinstein fired back. And she didn't mince words.
"It sounds like the Governor is looking for someone else to blame for California's budget. California's budget crisis was created in Sacramento, not Washington. These problems are not going away until there is wholesale reform of the state's budget process," she said in a statement.
(It's interesting to note that the governor's pledge to fight for more federal cash was probably the only thing he said Wednesday that everyone in Sacramento agreed with.)
Feinstein -- who is still rumored to be possible contender in this year's gubernatorial race -- apparently took exception to a number of Schwarzenegger's comments in his state of the state address.

As much as it pains me to say it, this is one time I have to agree with Feinstein.
Well, Ms’s Fineswine, It seems to me that you and Babs, need to explain why we aren’t getting as much back as we send in in taxes, Seems to me your not doing your job?
Feinswine bitch slaps Arnold. News at 11:00.
It’s only a matter of months and maybe weeks, before CA gets a federal bailout.
The budgetary mess here in California is the fault of the Democratic legislature. We’ve had this problem before Arnie. Arnie although not a true Republican is nothing but a convenient straw man for the left.
Feinstein your such a s***. At least Landrieu, Nelson and Dodd got something for their states. You and box of rocks give it up for free.
It seems to me that after subtracting out the cost of the federal beauracracy, 78 cents back on the dollar would probably be about average. yes/no?
Didn't you read the article? She brags about what she got for the state.
I wish she would apply the same thinking to federal spending as she does for state spending!
Missed that. Ok she and doofus are cheap “dates.”
“Seems to me your not doing your job?”
Agree with you on that, and wondering who Feinstein represents albeit I do agree it is Sacramento that is the budget problem, she should be working with the State, not against it.
Wondering if that’s the message the NorCal Libs need to hear to get their attention next election.
As if I needed another reason to move away from the once-golden state.
.
Yeah, I know, but none of that seems to bother those NorCal Left voters. Thought maybe they might pay attention to the fact she isn’t there for them might do it.
Yeah, I know. I’m a dreamer. ;)
Night all.
Although California has committed many fiscal sins, rats in Washington have encouraged the spending orgy and added many mandates to drive spending even higher. California is not alone in the coming fiscal meltdown. After the stimulus expires, state spending woes will accelerate even more.
..bought her a big ol' mansion with that money also.
But for the 17th amendment, the federal government could never get away with mandates on state spending. Eliminating such things would go a long way to easing the state budgeting problems and the tax burden on the state’s citizens.
Feinstein's way of indicting the California democrat machine.
Well Diane, I couldn't agree more.
