I would have added “Rustler’s Rhapsody” and left off one of the Hot Shots. “I’m Going to Get You, Sucka!” would have taken off the other Hot Shots in my list. Austin Powers or Top Secret to represent the spy thriller? Hard call. Would have been easier if Mike Meyers hadn’t made the awful sequels.

Bump. There are a couple I have not seen.

What's Up Tiger Lily?, a 1966 comedy film, is the first film directed by Woody Allen, who also wrote and appeared in it. Allen took International Secret Police: A Barrel of Gunpowder and International Secret Police: Key of Keys, two in a series of Japanese spy films and overdubbed them with completely original dialogue that had nothing to do with the plot of the original films. By putting in new scenes and rearranging the order of existing scenes, he completely changed the tone of the films from a James Bond clone into a comedy about the search for the world's best egg salad recipe. I'm not a Woody Allen fan at all, but some of his early stuff was good until he started repeating his schtick.

I would move Blazing Saddles to the number one spot and replace a couple of them. Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Dr. Strangelove are conspicuously missing from the list.

I think “Dr. Strangelove” is less a spoof and more a political satire (along the lines of “Network”, which has a spoof element but is clearly a satire that came almost too close to being fully realized as the years passed). Sterling Hayden in DS is terrifying !

IMHO Dr. Strangelove was indeed a spoof of the cold war movies such as Fail Safe and On The Beach.
