Napolitano on the hot seat -- again By: Jen DiMascio December 31, 2009 04:54 PM EST
After a determined effort Monday morning to walk back three disastrous words that threatened to rival heck of a job Brownie, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano spent the rest of the week in Washington reviewing the departments detection capabilities and increased security and updating President Barack Obama on the assessment Thursday morning.
The president seemed to be trying to throw her a lifeline Tuesday when he made it clear that he understood that her statement that the system worked referred only to what transpired after Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab boarded his Northwest Airlines flight to Detroit. But Republican critics, who already had Napolitano in their sights, spared no words in criticizing her and show no inclination to stop.
One of them was her home-state senator, Republican Jon Kyl, who told reporters in Arizona that he no longer feels totally safe with his former governor at the helm of the Department of Homeland Security. Kyl was flanked at the Phoenix news conference by fellow Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain.
McCain didnt go as far as Kyl, but it was a marked departure from January, when both Republicans appeared at Napolitanos confirmation hearing to cheer her nomination and remind her of the issue they worked on as a state delegation immigration reform.

lol
It’s a done deal.
She resigns by 1/8/2010.
Send this illegal alien sympathizer back to Arizona, then ship her to Mexico.
please, from now on it’s name is Incompitano!
Chewbacca don’t feel heat. Politicians are oblivious to the concept.
Loss of OPM (Other Peoples Money) - yes.
Loss of elected seat - yes.
But not heat.
“Janet! Don’t open that closet! It’s full of. . . .”
(whack whack whack whack whack)
“Ugly sticks.”
Napolitano is more concerned about Tea Baggers than Jihadi’s.
I think, and I hope, you are right although the timing may take a little longer so as to dispute direct linkage to her latest incompetence. Won’t be too long though. Zero won’t risk another incident that could be much more serious with her at the head.
Well it looks like Janet “misspoke herself.”
Maybe she really did have in mind only what happened after the panty bomber got on the flight, but a Freudian slip revealed her larger point of view “no big deal” when yes, it WAS a big deal. If I had been her I would have hightailed it right out to Detroit, had Bummer meet me there ASAP, and invited both parties to work together with me and the president to ensure this is the last time anything like this occurs on our watch.
>> She resigns by 1/8/2010.
Yeah, but who’s next in the queue of fools?
Did Nappy lie to Obamao and say she notified all flights in the air of the terror attempt or did Obamao lie when he said all flights were notified.
Is anyone going to ask the president for the truth.
Another “Obama Made Disaster”...
IMHO it's illegal aliens that are her top priority - everything else is secondary.
"And yes, when we find illegal workers, yes, appropriate action, some of which is criminal, most of that is civil, because crossing the border is not a crime per se. It is civil. But anyway, going after those as well."
Dated: November 13, 2009 Janet Napolitano wants comprehensive immigration reform more than homeland security
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano has expressed her concerns over right-wing extremists and returning military veterans, but doesnt seem at all too concerned with muslim jihadists like Nidal Malik Hasan. Instead, Napolitano is now moving on to something much bigger and more important for her and the Democrats, A comprehensive immigration reform bill for early 2010 that with debate and passage of the legislation could occur before the mid-term elections later that year. Homeland Security Today has more.....
Be great if you could add a nice label, and shop in an airliner going down in flames in the background behind her.
Hard to believe amateurs like this are in charge of anything bigger than a local chicken licken.
Why do people keep comparing Napolitano’s comments to Bush’s comment about Brown when the Secretary of Homeland Security’s comments should be compared to the “Mission Accomplished” sign GWB caught hell for?
saving
NOW can we profile for Muslims?
