2009: Tipping Point for Domestic Terror?
Pajamas Media ^ | Dec. 31 | Patrick Poole

This past year is simply without precedent in terms of the number of terror plots and cells exposed and disrupted. For those of us who closely monitor terrorism trends and have consistently warned of the escalating pace of Islamic radicalization — only to be ignored and attacked by Islamic apologists and their allies — 2009 has proven to be a cold and uncomfortable vindication of our concerns. As we move into a new year, we very well may look back at this past year as a tipping point for domestic terror.

The year began with bad harbingers with the November 2008 terror attack in Mumbai — demonstrating the success of a new terror tactic, swarm attacks — and the beginnings of a nationwide investigation here at home into the operations of the al-Qaeda-affiliated Somali al-Shabaab networks (after Shirwa Ahmed, a Minneapolis resident, conducted a suicide bombing in Somalia and became the first ever successful American suicide bomber). That investigation expanded after news of the disappearance of at least a dozen young Somali-American men armed with U.S. passports who turned up in Somalia training with al-Shabaab. The fear remains that some of these individuals may return home determined to wage jihad on these shores.

What 2009 has demonstrated is that the pace and scope of radicalization in the American Islamic community have increased dramatically. ....

re: new terror tactic, swarm attacks

I think they felt they didn't dare try something like this in the US while Dubya was in charge of what our response would be!

All bets are off now.

I fully expect attacks to be targeted on places that americans feel safe.
Malls, Churches, celebrations etc.
We have so many Islamofascist within the U.S. that getting on a plane etc, is not the be all to end all.
Americans need to wake up.

This is the best case for changes in 2010 & 2012. We need a stronger government that will follow the Constitution and protect our country. If we step on some toes, so be it. Our people need to stand up and say “Enough is Enough”. This should be the top slogan for 2010 & 2012.

Malls, Churches, celebrations etc.

Don't discount major events such as this year's Times Square celebration, the Super Bowl, etc. And further attempts to down a civilian airliner. They look for volume as well as surprise.

This article is prescient in that it outlines where we’ve been and indirectly casts our glances into a very bleak future.

The enemy is emboldened by a weakened US infrastructure due to poor policy decisions on the part of the Obama administration and Congress. No matter how much Obama grovels to the Islamic world, they want us to be destroyed and live under their totalitarian rules. Obama would just assume give them what they want, the death of Americans, in order to accomplish his goal of complete reliance and subservience to the American Government (Big G).

I will continue to pray for our country, but I fear our worst times have yet to come to pass.

Sadly, I predict that the coming year will show us how bold, aggressive, and inventive our enemies have become and how little we have learned from the events of the past year.

Our security people are acting like little children. We've had several attempted attacks involving aircraft and explosives brought on board by passengers. Even the dumbest terrorist must realize by now that those methods do not have the greatest odds of success. So, while our security people are pulling their hair and implementing additional screening measures on international flights, the terrorists, laughingly, will load up a bus, van or garbage truck full of explosives and blow the hell out of any city's downtown, shopping center, school or sports stadium/arena.

The people able and willing to do this do not have to fly here. They already are here or they can walk across our borders while everyone is watching the skies.

My fear is that they will go after soft targets and that our cities will start absorbing bomb blast as have those in other parts of the world.

And so it begins..................

Sure is a tipping point.....of a magnitude no one anticipated

The following video directly deals with the tipping point being turned 100% in their favor...

The first 2 and a half minutes are a relevant reflection of the past. Then it gets to the meat of the matter. Yes this is the tipping point and possibly too late to do anything.

You are missing something.

The original 9/11 attack was intended to provoke a retaliation on Al Qaeda by the US. The ultimate result of our attack on Al Qaeda was supposed to be a Muslim uprising, the overthrow of pro-Western governments and leaders within the Muslim world, and the re-establishment of the Caliphate.

Obviously, this plan has failed miserably...

However, any subsequent attacks will have a similar goal - to pursue some end towards the re-establishment of the Caliphate. Exactly how would these attacks pursue this end? Random attacks, however effective, don’t really seem serve this goal.

Exactly! Obama is a featherweight and other countries know it. Putin rolled him on missile defense and we as a country can expect that other countries, terrorists and factions will continually test us until we replace our [mis]management.

I understand what you are saying. But, Americans have not yet accepted the dangers we are facing.
If numerous attacks occur, Americans will eventually be brought to heal (Islamofascist thought process).
I am sure Zero would happily accept a ROP mantle for “world peace”.
I realize my thoughts seem a little extreme. but the events of the last 10 months make me believe that even the thought of accepting a repressive regime is not that far from reality for many in AMERICA.
JMHO.

Obama has provided a very fertile environment for terrorist activity to flourish.

He is weak.
He is stupid.
His entire administration is naive and incompetent.

“Though not called Taqiyya by name, Muhammad clearly used deception when he signed a 10-year treaty with the Meccans that allowed him access to their city while he secretly prepared his own forces for a takeover. The unsuspecting residents were conquered in easy fashion after he broke the treaty two years later, and some of the people in the city who had trusted him at his word were executed.”

This is the actions I think about.
They continue to subvert our government and people.
Anyone that buys TROP mantra are living in a fools paradise.

My belief if that Obama is completely evil because NOBODY can be stupid enough to make MOST of the decisions he has made. Even a dumba$$ will get one right every now and then.

we had all the leaders shut up in Gitmo, as we have been releasing them they have gone back and helped lead a new generation to continue the fight.

Everyone in Gitmo should have been executed before Bush left office.

exactly.

One day the Terrorists will grow a brain cell or two and will start doing random DC sniper type attacks using 100’s of operatives across the US... people will be cowering in their home nationwide.

It's moronic for them to continue to focus on the airlines.
