DNI Blair contradicts FBI, acknowledges intel failure on Maj. Hasan
Director of National Intelligence Dennis C. Blair suggested last week that U.S. law and enforcement and intelligence agencies mishandled data related to the Fort Hood murder suspect, Army Major Nidal Hasan.
Blair [said] U.S. intelligence agencies connected the dots on the cases of Najibullah Zazi and David Headley, who were linked to Al Qaida and terrorist plots.
However, as the case of Army Maj. Nidal Hasan, . . . shows, we must go even further in our efforts to turn intelligence into the knowledge needed to protect Americans, Blair wrote in an op-ed article.
It was the first official statement on the failure to act on intercepted emails linking Hasan to a radical cleric associated with Al Qaida.
