The father of terrorist suspect Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab had reported his concerns about his son's radicalisation directly to the CIA more than a month before the attempted bombing of an aeroplane in Detroit, according to a report.
But the warning was not passed on in full by the intelligence agency, a source told CNN.
Abdulmutallab's father Alhaji Uma Abdulmutallab, a prominent banker, was said to have had one face-to-face meeting with a CIA official in Nigeria and several contacts by telephone.
A report was said to have been sent to CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia, but much of it was not disseminated further to other agencies, it was claimed. A source told CNN the report had been known to the CIA for five weeks.
President Barack Obama is said to have been prompted to make a statement about the failed Christmas Day attack on Tuesday after learning about the report, and to have been referring to it when he talked about "systemic failures" that allowed Abdulmutallab to board the Detroit-bound Northwest Airlines flight in Amsterdam.

I know that human incompetence (especially humans working in gubbmint) can explain most things that seem conspiratorial.
That being said I’d like to pose a “What if?”.
obamao has crapped all over the military and the CIA, not to mention the rest of the country’s citizens.
What if the CIA had this info and just decided to sit on it to reveal the utter incompetence of little o and nappy?

Does he have any qualifications AT ALL to run that agency? Apart from being another leftist tool?
All I know is this: it took Zero four days to find a presidential podium in Hawaii(me thinks the staffers forgot it stateside and they had to wait til the formal presidentdial podium flew in)to get his face behind. Any other time his face is normally on my TV at noon—which seems to be every single day!
Then Zero wasn’t strong enough to call the attack what is was. Apparently he had to consult with all of his Know-nothings to find out how he can wiggle out of this without specifically calling any group out to blame. Of course we all know Janet is going down in flames herself pretty quick!
This administration is a joke.
While I think it would be a mighty temptation, I can't imagine anyone conservative in the CIA doing that in good conscience. It was only a fortunate fumble that prevented this close call from being a true tragedy. No, this fish rots from the head back.
How convenient, Obama administration and party, plus the State Department’s ongoing duplicity are nothing more than bunch of whiny little bitches trying to put the propaganda misinformation spin on the CIA….so let’s see, guy had no passport, paid cash, was granted a visa (in London), one way travel, and someone intervened getting him on the plan and he was on a watch list…and he still got on a flight…uhmm, is this one of Obama’s cousins or dinner party members.
