Last year, the oldest Orthodox Jewish Rabbinic organization in the country, the Union of Orthodox Rabbis of the U.S. and Canada, issued a historic declaration on voting and abortion. It said Jewish voters should not vote for candidates who support abortion, calling them "antithetical" to Jewish values.

Unfortunately they were almost completely ignored by American Jews.

Strange reason, but ANY reason to not abort, is a good reason.

Nothing makes a Palestinian happier than Jews aborting their own children.

Agreed. Besides, wouldn’t waiting for “every soul” to be born by definition bring us to the end of human existence?

Yep, I would’ve thought Rabbis in general would’ve pushed the pro-life agenda knowing that in the long run its always demographics. They don’’t need history to remind them of that either.

Tell me again why American Jews have consistently voted pro-Democrat. I seriously want to know. I’ve asked Jewish friends and associates; most just shrug and a few mutter something like, “I don’t like Republicans.” What?

The Jerusalem Post newspaper indicates the letter bases the statement on the Babylonian Talmud in Tractate Niddah which says each baby that is born brings the Jewish people closer to redemption.

We christians believe the Messiah has already been born but for those still waiting, this is an important step in understanding how abortion destroys life thus endangering the One they still await.

Abortion Delays Coming of Messiah

It didn't stop Him the first time. It won't stop Him the second.

Holy-Innocents-alert.

Abortion does pretty much screw up everything else, though.

Since many Reform Jews don’t even believe in GOD anymore, it’s not surprising that the possibility that a Jewish woman might kill the Messiah by having an abortion doesn’t phase them at all.

Apparently, it is for them! FWIU, the Jewish faith has allowed for abortion, up until now. Perhaps a rocket landed in the synagogue.

I thought abortion was illegal in Israel, or at least strongly restricted. Am I wrong? The article makes no mention of the legal situation there.

Orthodox Judaism has always prohibited abortion except when necessary to save the mother's life.

What else do you believe? I’d suggest you become more agnostic, otherwise your faith is empty.
