Just so everybody outside of Nevada knows, Harry Reid is basically threatening John Ensign with a protracted and unfavorable Senate Ethics Committee (oxymoron alert!!!!) outcome on his affair if Ensign openly tries to sabotage the Reid/Pelosi/Obama/FDR/Marx healthcare bill.
Reid isn’t taking any chances. He either buys you or blackmails you. That is the reason he is still in office. But the voters in Nevada right now don’t get paid off by Reid so its the only place he can’t put money in the place of loyalty. While the unions and outside groups will be spending $10M+ next year (which buys pretty much every prime-time commercial in a state this size), Reid has absolutely no connection to the actual people of Nevada.
And considering that 72% of Nevadans have moved to Nevada in the last 15 years, they have no idea of his hokey story about being from humble beginnings and having somehow been a great asset to Nevada over the years. But Harry does have 3 sons (and 1 son-in-law) who are all lawyers in Las Vegas and their firms represent the largest business interests in the State of Nevada. Don’t expect any Nevada interest groups or businesses to come out against him. But the people themselves are pissed off big time.
