Remember the elections just last month. Republicans won overwhelmingly because people are horrified at how the Democrats have been behaving, drunk with power. People will not take this lying down, and the entitlement class will not be so easy to motivate.
I think a couple of pointed, in your face emails to John McCain might help the effort.

China issued a warning just yesterday that they are not going to be able to continue buying our debt. We just enacted a TRILLION dollar bill that can only be bought by selling more debt.
I hope America understands (doubtfully) they are celebrating the bankruptcy of the United States of America.
Obama’s statement of if this doesn’t pass, we will go bankrupt is the typical “Whatever Obama says, know the exact and equal opposite is true”.
