Hamas using English law to demand arrest of Israeli leaders for war crimes

The Islamist group Hamas is masterminding efforts to have senior Israeli leaders arrested for alleged war crimes when they visit European countries including Britain, a top Hamas official involved in the effort has told The Times.

The claim comes amid continuing diplomatic fallout after a British arrest warrant was issued last week against Tzipi Livni, who served as Foreign Minister during Israel’s Gaza offensive last winter. The warrant was withdrawn when it became clear that Ms Livni, now leader of the opposition, was not in the country. Its existence apparently prompted her to cancel a trip to attend a meeting in London.

President Peres described the incident as “one of the greatest political mistakes” that Britain could have made and calling for the law to be changed. “Everything is based on ... a hostile majority public opinion,” he said last week. “The British promised they would fix this and it is time that they do so.”

Gordon Brown and David Miliband, the Foreign Secretary, have each expressed their concern and their opposition to the warrant.

Unbelievable. First, they allow sharia law to poke its nose under the tent of their legal system, then this.

This same $h!t happened more than ten years ago when Pinochet went from Chile to UK for medical treatment and got arrested there. This is thanks to the socialist Spanish Judge - Baltasar Garzon. It took more then a year of legal wrangling before Pinochet could go home.

You were saying ...

Unbelievable. First, they allow sharia law to poke its nose under the tent of their legal system, then this.

Yeah, the British allowed just "ordinary people" to file arrest warrants, without having to be cleared through the legal system first. So, that means all sorts of frivilous arrest warrants can be sought and not stopped before they reach the legal system and become an actual arrest warrant... LOL...

It's sort of like the "kook group" we've got in the United States, who pretends that they have the authority to issue arrest warrants, too.... LOL (just like the British situation over there...).

It's the "American Grand Jury" a group of individuals who go around trying to convince judges and others that they can issue arrest warrants... what a crazy bunch... LOL...

I agree fully with the grand jury as convened by our legal system, but these bunch of yokels are nuts when they think they're going to walk in and issue arrest warrants on their own... :-)

I think a lot of people here would like to just march in and arrest someone, too -- but that's not how we've got things set up -- unless -- you want to see the same kind of stuff that you see right now in Britain...

Hamas using English law to demand arrest of Israeli leaders for war crimes

Isn't this the kind of BS law that the scum bags of the world want to use to arrest American military and diplomatic personnel?

Even more reason Israel has to kill anyone and everyone associated with Hamas.

The British writer, James Haider, is notorious for repeating Hamas/PLO propaganda about how many people (Hamas fighters/supporters or bystanders) were killed during Israel’s clean-out operation in Gaza last year.

He believes the Hamas figure of 1,400, including many civilians. Name them, dumbass. How can you tell a dead Hamas fighter who often wears civilian clothes from an innocent bystander? You can’t, so you swallow all the propaganda that Hamas and the PLO hand you without questioning it.

The Israels provided a lot of information on who they killed because they knew where the enemy was entrenched or where they hit enemy positions.

I assume that there were some innocent people killed, if you are gracious in calling those who want to exterminate you, “innocent”. Seems we didn’t worry about little details like that when we bombed the hell out of Germany and Japan.

As a writer, I resent the British anti-semitism, anti-Israel, and totally unprofessionalism of many of their writers, esp. for the marxist Guardian and some embedded in the Times.
