I don't think that's the main reason, although it is the one which will be mentioned most because one can't "morally" argue against it.

Invent something of "value," out of thin air, make it mandatory, and finally become multimillionaires from the commisssions. Having done nothing to earn it, producing nothing with actual intrinsic worth and explainng it all away with monumental Bullshit*.
