FORT WORTH -- Good riddance?
We cant recall the last time a company promoted the end of a product.
Did Ford extol the Edsel? Coke the New Coke?
Yet we have Whataburger buying little ads, setting up toll-free hot lines and Web sites, then paying PR people to call attention to the withdrawal of what is easily the Corpus Christi-based chains unhealthiest menu item: The A1 Thick and Hearty Burger.
The burger has lost its pizzazz, said a PR person with SPM Communications of Dallas, who is not authorized to be quoted by name,
Wednesday night, a North Texas hairstylist named Heather was scheduled to mount a "support group" gathering at an Irving Whataburger to mark the Dec. 21 disappearance of the 1,050-calorie, half-pound hamburger that packs 62 grams of fat, according to the chains Web site.

White Castle makes the tastiest burger, but you need at least ten of ‘em to make a meal.
Now for my two cents, Culver's has the best fast food burgers anywhere.
Thanks for the explanation(s). They make sense I suppose. Create the demand so that you can satisfy it.
It looks like the nearest one is about 800 miles away from me so I’m going to miss out on the “Going out of A!” sales extravaganza.
I’ve had to cut back on beef for health reasons so I’d be inclined to stick to a good steak or Mama’s pot roast, lol...

I’ve got to stop reading this thread, I can feel my arteries hardening just reading it.
MarkL said: I'll have to check them out... They recently opened one in Lee's Summit, MO, near my home.
I've eaten at the several original stores in Northern Virginia. Since they began franchising I was concerned about quality. The franchise stores do the same great job. I strongly recommend you visit. It is a great interpretation of burgers and fries. The hot dog is also very good for a change of pace.
Never heard of ButterBurgers but they sound delightfully evil. Or is that evilly delightful?
Sure - where is Round Rock?
Your choice.
Coke doesn’t have any real sugar in it anymore. Just the high-fructose corn syrup. For a real Coke, try one of the Mexican Cokes. Made with cane sugar and SOOOOO much better than the ‘real’ Coke.
Both Whataburgers and In-and-Out burgers are great in their own ways. Fatburgers are pretty good too. But hard to match a home grilled burger.
I was in Anaheim last week but there wasn’t an In-n-out in walking distance of my hotel so I missed out.
White Castle and Crystal burgers suck. I would take the old 80s $0.39 Generic Hamburger Stand burgers over those two, any day.
DQ and Sonic do a fair job.
Miss the old Bob’s Big Boy burgers.
Slap some bacon on that baby and double up the onions and I’m there! Culver’s is the best. Just my opinion of course but that’s what this thread is all about.
Now, let’s talk catfish:

Aunt Jenny’s Catfish Restaurant, Ocean Springs, Mississippi, the best in the world.
Five Guys is my hands down favorite. We have them here in Indy, now.
96th Street is an In-N-Out clone here that’s pretty good.
