5 Republicans Running to take on Patty Murray
The Evergreen Report ^ | 12-16-09 | The Evergreen Report

Posted on 12/17/2009 9:48:17 AM PST by washingtoncon

This is a quick look at the 5 main candidates currently running for the United States Senate against Patty Murray. I say main candidates because, Wayne Glover a trucker , and Rod Rieger have created websites but neither have gained any traction. This is the race that will be at the top of the ticket in Washington and so far the GOP has struggled to come up with a credible candidate.

I am currently undecided in this race, but wanted to lay out the negatives and positives of each candidate as I saw them. I will do a post in the future as to some of the key differences between them on policy issues. Please comment below and be sure to vote in the unofficial straw poll. Come November 2010 we absolutely must get Patty Murray out of there, but who is the best man for the job?

George Nethercutt ran against her in 2004, but he was from the Eastern side of the state and lost with about 44% of the vote.

The state well and truly is in the hole. Not as bad as California, but certainly more arrogant. Rossi wouldn’t run for US Senate. Dead end job in a chamber full of idiots. He’s already done that job once.

He got robbed the first time he won the WA gubernatorial race. The D’s essentially recounted until they got the result they were looking for.

I followed that race closely...’robbed’ is an understatement.

Gregoire was very unpopular after her first term in office and yet she was "re-elected". As long as we have King County I have little hope for a change. Look how many times McDermott has been elected.

King County is so rabidly left this state basically has no chance. I have had my hopes dashed so many times. I really, really believed that there was no way that Gregoire would win that last race because she was so unpopular, but strange things happen around here.

Used to live in Spokane, and loved it, just couldn’t stand WA politics.

I agree, that is a depressing list. I think the ideal candidate would be someone from the west side who is young, and thus has very little in the way of closet skeletons. I’m in no mood to vote for a pro athlete, or a “good speaker”.
The other 3 candidates aren’t tooting their own horns, so aren’t going to get noticed.

Next!

do you have any actual people you would like to vote for? The List is certainly not perfect but who else do we have in Washington? the GOP Bench is incredibly weak.

Nope. I don’t. But, if a Jo/e-the-plumber type were to materialize early enough, s/he could get a lot of support.

Doesn’t say much for the state of Washington...that is the BEST they can come up with to represent them in the U. S. Senate?

It says much about the Dem machine here. She went up through the ranks, from office to office, to get where she is.

I noticed Dino mentioned on a previous. Dino will not be running and he will NOT endorse anyone until after the primaries. Word is that he is very good friends w/ one of the lesser candidates and therefore will hold fire till then.

Chris is a professional/motivational speaker that is a mile wide and long but only 2” deep. Didier isn’t even in the race and is waiting for the big dogs to show him the money before he engages. Art doesn’t want anyone to campaign in his backyard and is tentative at best. Williams gets out there but he does not really connect well with the folks. Salazar, I believe is the clear choice. He is all over WA and has organized in nearly every county in the state. He’s a constitutional conservative toda bone.

Strange things, indeed. The dead rising from their graves at election time for one.

Sorry about the double posting. This is my first time as a freeper.

If you go to http://www.sean4senate.com/ you will see that Sean is all over the Seattle area. Being from the projects he speaka da lingo of inner city folks and will be a force there. Surely he won’t carry King County but he will take a load of votes away from Murray. He also will bring a message of hand-up vs. hand-out. If you ever want to see what liberals have done to every major city in the USA just read Do-Gooders, How Liberals hurt Those They Claim To Help by Mona Charen.
