What is it with this word: unexpectedly?
As long as it is “unexpected” the bad news is not quite as bad? Is that what it is?
Is this the Drive-By-Media’s version of: “Look deep into my eyes. Deeper. There is no recession. The economy is not as bad as it seems. Now go deeper.”
You know, cuz last week we just weren’t expecting things to be so bad this week, aw shucks.
As long as some nameless authority is “expecting” it to get better then it can’t be all that bad, right?
Nothing to see here folks. Move along. Go back to sleep.
Too many of these journalist-worms are using this word for it to be a coinkydink, methinks.
YEah, but it’s been going on for years. It’s like saying “some say the economy is recovering nicely.”
Not to ruin the joke, but the idea is that the markets have already priced in the "expected" value and markets move on surprises, i.e. news that is "unexpected".
