He saw Harvest Day (Greeting?) Card from Business Expense Bureau under State Science Industry Committee, and opened it, triggering the hacking attack. It is also possible that the perp is an amateur who got lucky. According to what I know, this is rather rudimentary hacking trick.

Yeah, so how do ya like it, China? Lotta damn gall to complain about something they’ve been doing to us for 20 years...I learned last week that 17 of the top 20 PhD recipients from MIT (or Harvard, don’t recall) a couple of years ago were Chinese nationals.
